AnElden Ringplayer has recently completed one of the hardest fights in the game in a very weird way: he beat Malenia with a goldfish. Malenia is one of thehardest bosses inElden Ring, so it’s astounding to see a small goldfish achieving even a small victory in a fight that has made several human players quit.Soulslike games are filled with punishing boss fights. After the launch ofElden Ring, many gamers discovered that Malenia was among thehardest bosses to beat in any FromSoftware game. She has two phases, attacks with unpredictable patterns, heals herself when hitting the main character, and is quite fast. However, it seems that there’s no need to predict attack patterns when the player in question is a fish.RELATED:Elden Ring Fan Makes Incredible Painting Based on the Game’s Cover ArtThe streamer Eric Pointcrow has recently shared a video of his goldfish Tortellini beating Malenia’s first phase inElden Ring. In the one-minute clip the gamer shared, it’s possible to see the fish randomly attacking and dodging, being able to somehow best this ridiculously hardElden Ringboss while his “trainer” Eric cheers and tries to direct the moves of the seemingly distracted fish.
Eric Pointcrow is a YouTube and Twitch gaming streamer, and he achieved this unbelievable feat with quite a weird setup. His fish Tortellini is inside an aquarium, probably completely unaware that he’s actually playing a game. Depending on where the fish swims inside the aquarium, a button is pressed, performing an action inElden Ring. For instance, if the fish moves from one quadrant to another, it will push the dodge button, while if it keeps on another one, it may attack. Unlike, for instance, a dog, which could be trained for doing a few tricks, fishes are not exactly very responsive, which makes the whole video seem even more incredible.
This is far from the only time that a gamer fought this memorable boss with ridiculous disadvantages, though. Over a month ago, one playerdefeated Malenia inElden Ringwith a rubber band trick. The catch was that the “trick” didn’t help the gamer at all but instead was used to keep the camera spinning at all times during the fight, which added more complexity to the already challenging battle.
Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
