In a post on the community website, Rockstar laid out details regarding the future of bothGrand Theft Auto 5andGTA Onlineonce the game’s launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This came along with the confirmation that the remastered versions would be releasing on March 15.

BothGTA 5andGTA Onlineare being graphically updated for the next-gen consoles, running at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, and utilizing the SSD capabilities of the new consoles to create faster loading times. Players will also have the chance to transfer over their story mode progress andGTA Onlineprogression to the next-gen consoles with a one-time migration. It was also revealed thatthe standalone version ofGTA Onlinefor PS5would be available for free for three months after launch.

This is an exciting reveal for players who have been anticipating this version of the game’s release, especially considering the long-standing rumors that the next-gen version of theGrand Theft Auto 5would be delayed. And with the rumored new additions coming toGTA Online,particularly the leaked tease of a new map, there are surely some surprises that Rockstar are holding close to the chest for this new version of the game.

Grand Theft Auto 5is available now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launch on March 18.
