TheGrand Theft Autofranchise is one of the most popular video game series of all time. With the release ofRed Dead Redemption 2about a year and a half ago, some fans are wondering whenGrand Theft Auto 6will be revealed and released. Video game insiders are also debating this, as some believe it is many years away, while others think the development is much further along.
Rumors and leaks aboutGTA 6have been flooding the internet for quite some time. The momentRed Dead Redemption 2went gold, the speculation aboutGTA 6multiplied. WithGTA 5’s release date being in 2013, it’s reasonable to expect that members of Rockstar Games have been working on the game in one way or another for quite some time.

Former Kotaku news editor and current Bloomberg tech insider Jason Schreier believes thatGTA6is only in its early stages. What exactly early stages means is up in the air, however, it perhaps would be a bit surprising if the game has barely been developed after seven years since the launch ofGTA5and a year and a half sinceRed Dead Redemption 2. There are alsorumors that the story forGTA6is completed, which would make one think that the game is past the early stages of development.
Twitter user @Yan2295 is among the insiders that don’t agree with Schreier. Yan2295 has leaked out, confirmed, and hinted at many Rockstar related rumors throughout the years, as he himself is someone who has had inside information directly from Rockstar. He says that he doesn’t doubt Schreier’s sources, as he has been a trusted name in gaming news for quite some time, but Yan2295 thinks that there is absolutely no way that the game is still only in the early stages.
A lot of information about the game has possibly been leaked already, includingGTA6’s map and protagonist, which again may point to the game being closer to completion than not.
Another video game and Rockstar insider named Tez 2 believes that the game is 60 to 70 percent complete. There have also been hints that aGTA6reveal is on the way, thanks to alterations to theGrand Theft Autowebsite.
Themonstrous success ofGTAis undeniable, as the game has sold over 110 million copies. There is almost no doubt that Rockstar Games will continue to take advantage of the series. However, it is truly unknown as to if the game will release in the next year or two, or if it is much further out like Jason Schreier believes. It may be realistic to think thatGTA6will come out in 2022, anything earlier would certainly be a pleasant surprise, however.
