The game slowly teaches the player the mechanics of the game by providing practice dummies along the way— although these can kill players too. When it comes to boss fights, though, this title is as brutal as theDark Soulsseries. Amalgam, the first boss ofGrime, is proof of that. Here’s how to fight this boss and live to tell the tale.
How To Find the Great Prey: Amalgam
Find The Beacon
From theWeeping Cavity Depths Surrogate, continue exploring forwards and meet an NPC who goes by the name Yon. They will praise the player and leave to find a gift. Keep exploring upwards to meet Yon again and receive a weapon calledMaul Axe. Just a bit further to the right is theBeaconwaiting in a corner.
Find The Weeping Cavity Tearfalls Surrogate
From the Beacon, keep going right. There’s a weapon calledTwin Fangsthat can be picked along the way. At this point, the only way to go is upwards, so climb up the stone wall. Keep exploring upwards untilYoncan be found on the other side of a barrier. Take theleft pathto find the Weeping Cavity Tearfalls Surrogate.
Unlock The Shortcut
From the Weeping Cavity Tearfalls Surrogate, go left, and climb all the way up. Be careful of the bone spikes. Useabsorbto get through obstacles involvingAncient Limbpreys, to avoid getting knocked back over and again. Avoid exploring for now; instead, keep straight ahead to meet 4Frail Armpreys and pick up a weaponcalled Bellow Mace along the way. Go down and explore downwards to bereunited with Yon. Break the barrier toopen the shortcut, and to get back to the Tearfalls Surrogate.

Amalgam Boss Fight: Second Phase
Now that their peace is being disturbed, Amalgam will break out from the head statue, revealing a total of6 limbs.
In the second phase, players shouldstay under the lower limbsand focus on these.Absorb the lower limbs as they are about to slam their fists. Quickly move to the other bottom limb that’s about to slam as well. After a moment, theselimbs will regenerate. Keep up this strategy until Amalgam screams with rage.

Amalgam Boss Fight: Third Phase
The third phase of the battle starts after Amalgam screams. The attacks during this phase are much quicker and can be confusing. Familiarizing Amalgam’s patterns will help the player win the boss fight.
Reserve a huge portion of the force forevading the upper and middle limb attacks, andabsorb the lower and the middle limbs. Attack the body once or twice while waiting for the limbs to regenerate.Stay within close-medium range onlywhile attempting to bring Amalgam down.
