Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyhas a lot of dialogue choices and decisions for players to make from beginning to end. One of the first big options to choose from is whether the team should sell Rocket or Groot. It’s an even vote, so Peter must make the final call.

Not knowing the consequences of this risky con job can be stressful, and the decision actually does affect quite a bit in the following chapters, so this guide will go over the consequences of selling Rocket or Groot inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Should You Sell Rocket or Groot in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy?

There is no “right” option with this decision, butchoosing to sell Groot results in a more peaceful Chapter 4. If Rocket is presented toLady Hellbender inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, things don’t go as smoothly, and players will have a lot more combat ahead of them in Chapter 4. Past this, there are no long-term consequences to this decision.

There will be an opportunity right at the end of Chapter 3 to change Star-Lord’s choice if players have a change of heart while journeying through the dangerous terrain of Seknarf Nine. Altering who gets sold at this point doesn’t make a difference except for the immediate dialogue after, and a few lines of banter later on.

Consequences of Selling Groot in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Selling Groot to Lady Hellbender actually goes pretty well for the team at first. She accepts the 12,000 Units offer (even if players choose to negotiate with Peter), and Groot gets taken into her custody while the Guardians party with the guards of Lady Hellbender’s Fortress.

Players will then sneak their way down to Groot’s cell, and he lets himself out. The team then follows him into a trap set by Lady Hellbender. It turns out Groot is a terrible liar and told her the plan, causing her to switch Groot out with a shapeshifter in his place. The stealth mission ends and players must battle Dweller-In-Darkness, a formidablevillain inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Consequences of Selling Rocket in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Choosing to sellRocket in Square Enix’sGuardians of the Galaxynever goes well. Lady Hellbender doesn’t want to buy him no matter what dialogue options are chosen, and Rocket will shoot the place up in anger.

This leads to a lot ofcombat inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyduring Chapter 4, as the team tries to escape and grab some valuables on their way out. As a consequence of this, the chapter will be longer if players choose to sell Rocket, but still ends in a fight with Dweller-In-Darkness, regardless of who was presented to her.

If players choose the “play up to cuteness” option to try and sell Rocket to Lady Hellbender, the epilogue at the end of the game mentions that Rocket has included a clause in his contract to never be referred to as cute ever again.
