Over the years, the Master Chief has been forced to fight many Covenant enemies during his missions to protect humanity. From the small but numerous Grunts and Jackals to thewalking tanks known as Hunters, the Covenant has no shortage of alien races at its disposal. Among the ranks of this religious faction that took center stage during the events ofHalo 3were the Brutes.
While Brutes first appeared in the series inHalo 2, they became the primary force of theCovenant inHalo 3after the Great Schism. These large bipedal aliens posed a challenge for the Master Chief as they often came equipped with powerful weapons, such as Gravity Hammers. Recently, one gamer discovered that these warriors are just as cunning as deadly.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as MoaBurger shared a video from their time playingHalo 3. What made this clip stand out was an unusual engagement the Reddit user had with an enemy Brute. The video started with the player standing on an elevated platform while attempting to drive off a number of Covenant enemies. After a few moments, they were engaged by an enemy Brute wieldinga deadly Gravity Hammer. As the enraged Covenant enemy moved in for the attack, the player deftly sidestepped to the left, avoiding the oncoming assault. As a result, the Brute was sent flying off the edge and into the abyss below. At least, that was what the player thought.
After falling off the side of the platform, the Brute let out a loud cry. Believing that this meant the enemy had died, MoaBurger proceeded to jump down to the lower level. However, what they saw next was both unexpected and unfortunate. To their surprise, the angry Brute was standing on the lower level, still clutching the Gravity Hammer. Before the player had time to react, the enemy hit them with the weapon and instantly killed them.
Unsurprisingly, this hammer-wielding Brute caught the attention of numerous members of theHalocommunity on Reddit. With over 8,500 upvotes in only a day, many were just as surprised as MoaBurger by the fake death cry of the enemy. “The fact that it played the trailing off sound effect makes it so much better,” OkPassenger552 said on Reddit. In addition to commenting about the clever Brute, others thought that the graphics for the nearly 15-year-oldHalo 3still looked incredible. “Halo 3still looking oh so good,” a Reddit user known as grusauskj said.
While many fans found this video hilarious, it is far from the only humorous encounter the Master Chief has had with alien forces. For example, several months ago, one gamer watched a despondentElite drive off the side of Zeta Halo. It will be interesting to see what highlights fans capture in the future as they continue to play these games.
