Since its release back in December of last year,Halo Infinitehas enjoyed a massive amount of success, but has also seen its fair share of controversy. Fans have criticized certain aspects ofHalo Infinitewell before the game released, with varying degrees of validity. Now, the most recent bout of controversy has come in the form of free weapon skins that bear a strong resemblance to similar skins in the previousHaloinstallment.
TheHalocommunity is as tight-knit as it is passionate about the subject matter. Following the server shut down forHalo 3, many fans turned up to say their final goodbyes to the Xbox 360 version of the game. However, in the matter ofHalo Infinite, there have been some speed bumps in terms of fan reception. Such as the recent release of new weapon skins forHalo Infinitethat hasHalo 5fans upset.

Over on Twitter, a user named Mint Blitz noticed that the free weapon skins that players can unlock for free by watching theHalo Championship Seriesare nearly identical to the weapon skins that unlock after reaching rank 152 inHalo 5. Rank 152 is the maximum rank thatHalo 5players can achieve, which led to manyHalo 5players enraged.
Mint Blitz, who is also aHalobased content creator, discussed how difficult it is to achieve rank 152 inHalo 5. Many longtimeHalo 5players could easily see this as disrespectful, considering that those weapons skins represent the thousands of hours it takes to unlock the skins are wasted if regular or casual fans of the series can just watch a three-hour stream and immediately unlock them.
In any case, plenty of fans likely won’t consider this bit of drama to be on the same level asHalo Infinite’sslow battle pass progressionor the lack of multiplayer playlists. Though, for a number ofHalo 5fans, this is certainly a point of irritation. Whether or not 343 Industries will do address the matter remains to be seen.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds forHalo Infinitegoing forward. There still remains a considerable amount of content that has yet to release forHalo Infinite. There will be a lot for fans to be excited about in terms ofHalo Infinitein 2022, such as Forge mode, Campaign co-op, and many other features.
