Hideo Kojima could be teasing yet another celebrity appearance forDeath Stranding 2on social media, as he is known to do.Death Stranding 2’s announcement during The Game Awards 2022 has led to Kojima sharing a variety of information about the project on Twitter and through his project. Very little of that information is substantial, as Kojima is well-practiced at protecting secrets. Teasing celebrity appearances forDeath Stranding 2is one area Kojima has felt comfortable having some fun. There are already several known actors and quasi-celebrities confirmed to be participating inDeath Stranding 2, to one degree or another. For example, it’s known that Norman Reedus will once again have a starring role. Lea Seydoux, who playedFragile inDeath Stranding, will also be returning forDeath Stranding 2. Then there are actors including Elle Fanning and Shili Kutsuna, and voice actor Troy Baker, each confirmed for the game. That’s likely just a glimpse at the full cast, though.RELATED:Hideo Kojima Confirms The Death Stranding Movie Will Not Be Like The GameKojima is once again teasing the participation of some new celebrities forDeath Stranding 2. Kojima’s Twitter account recently showed several photographs of a 3D scanning session featuring multiple people. They may not have been immediately recognizable to some, but for fans the two shown in the photos were undeniablyIain Cook and Lauren Mayberry of the band Chvrches.
TheDeath Strandingfranchise isn’t a stranger to Chvrches. The band wrote thetitle track forDeath Stranding’s soundtrack, an original song just for Kojima’s first independent game post-Konami. While Chvrches didn’t have an actual role in the game, it’s been shown to have a good relationship if not friendship with Kojima.
That friendship is what’s manifested once again on Kojima’s Twitter account. Kojima shared photographs of Chvrches visitingKojima Productions’s swanky new studioand signing a blackboard with the message, “Looking forward to making many more things together. <3” There are also the photos of Chvrches being 3D-scanned, as well.
For the time being, Chvrches is not officially confirmed to have a role in thedevelopment ofDeath Stranding 2, whether it’s making music or having the bandmates' likenesses put in the game. However, given Kojima’s recent tweets it seems like a near certainty. Don’t be surprised to see Cook, Mayberry, and perhaps Doherty as well, found in the game in an unexpected place, maybe even playing their original song fromDeath Strandingor something new altogether. When it comes to a Kojima project, it’s impossible to predict exactly what he has planned.
Death Stranding 2is in development for PS5.
