AHogwarts Legacyplayer has shown their love for the game by making their own custom controller skin. The fantasy action RPG may only be three months old, butthe dedication its fanbase has shown to itis virtually unparalleled.

Taking place a century before the bestselling J.K. Rowling novels,Hogwarts Legacywas first launched for most current-gen consoles in February of this year, where despite some pre-release controversies, it dominated various charts, sold 12 million copies in a measly two weeks, and has gone on to become the most-viewed single-player game of all time on Twitch. Receiving much praise for its faithfulness to the source material, it really is the game thatHarry Potterfans have wanted for so long, and its devoted player base has not been shy about sharing their best moments from it.

Ina post in /r/HarryPotterGame, Reddit user Obi1Kenobi14 showed off a custom skin they created for their Xbox Series X|S controller. It is modeled after the Marauders' Map, a magical item that first debuted in the thirdHarry Potterbook,The Prisoner of Azkaban. It is colored in off-white, with the various Wizarding World locales sketched on in faded black. The name of the map itself is tucked away between the D-pad and the right analog stick, while the names Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs are written across the middle, albeit with only Wormtail being clearly legible. It would not be the first time a fan hasmade their own art project as a tribute toHogwarts Legacy.

While some in the replies were impressed by the idea alone, many were quick to point out the placement of the wording, noting that the name Wormtail is front and center while the other elements are shoved behind the buttons. Given the character’s villainous role in the franchise, this did not sit well with some. Obi1Kenobi14 clarified that they were unable to alter the positioning while designing the skin. Still, thepassion forHogwarts Legacyis clearly visible in its execution, and for a game that’s still new yet has already been heavily dissected, it’s doubly impressive.

There is no doubt that more custom controller skins could be coming, among other artistic endeavors, if theHogwarts Legacyfanbase remains as steadfast as it is. Of course, that should not be a problem considering the game hasalready destroyed Portkey Games' sales expectationsand some versions of it have yet to release. It’s always a treat to see just how far any fandom can go to show off their affection, whether it be inside or outside of the game, but only time will tell how far this one could go.

Hogwarts Legacyis available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will release on May 5, with a Nintendo Switch port coming July 25.
