Summary
Omni-Man’s arrival inMortal Kombat 1was highly anticipated, and fans are starting to see how well he stacks up against the rest of the cast. If lore alone was taken into account, a nigh-indestructible interplanetary warrior like Nolan would be one of the strongest characters in the cast. However, inMortal Kombat 1, it’s the tools that a character has at their disposal that determine how strong they are in battle. Even characters who are powerful lore-wise can falter without a good moveset. Omni-Man needs a proper inspection in order to appraise his abilities accurately.
As the first character released fromMortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack, Omni-Man sets the stage for what future DLC will hopefully deliver. The Viltrumite’s fighting style makes a show out of his sheer strength and nigh-unstoppable nature. It should say something that one of Omni-Man’s special moves is just him dashing forward and letting the impact alone deal damage. It does a good job of showing what makes Omni-Man such a dangerous fighter and gives hope that future DLC fighters will be able to play to their own strengths as well. The voice acting of J.K. Simmons also does plenty to elevate Omni-Man among his peers.

Omni-Man is a Hard Hitter in Mortal Kombat 1 With High Potential
Fans can quickly learn whileplaying Omni-Man inMortal Kombat 1how effective he is in a fight. He’s capable of putting together impressive strings of attacks, many of which end by sending opponents flying. He also has his Viltrumite Stance, where he hovers in place and becomes immune to projectiles before unleashing one of several follow-ups, many of which function as key parts of his combo game. These follow-ups are:
Despite giving players the necessary tools tobeat Omni-Man’s Tower inMortal Kombat 1handily, he still has some notable weaknesses. Omni-Man’s neutral game suffers from having fewer built-in combos and effective combo starters than several characters, and he’s better at capitalizing on momentum than creating it.

In addition, while Viltrumite Stance features some of his best moves, a mistimed activation leaves him wide open, as does a blocked or missed follow-up. Quicker fighters with more options can rush him down and keep him from gaining a foothold in the fight. Omni-Man has the ability to pile damage onto his opponents, but that doesn’t matter if he can’t get an opening.
Omni-Man is a rather well-balanced character inMortal Kombat 1overall. WhatOmni-Man lacks inMortal Kombat 1keeps him from being at the top of the mountain, but his own legitimate strengths cannot be ignored. He can knock away aggressive opponents, slam foes around with long combos, and even counterbalance his lack of a projectile with Viltrumite Stance’s immunity keeping zoners from spacing him out.
In terms of usability, Omni-Man feels like a fairly high-tier pick with his damage potential and Viltrumite Stance’s utility. While he is great at being a straightforward brawler, having fewer solid combo starters keeps him just outside ofMortal Kombat 1’s top tier.
Omni-Man has the ability to pile damage onto his opponents, but that doesn’t matter if he can’t get an opening.
Omni-Man is a lot of fun to play and is a major treat for fans ofInvincible. He has a respectable place inMortal Kombat 1’s character tier list, especially for a character whose moveset is loaded with references to his series of origin. Of course, Omni-Man is still a new addition to the game, so it remains to be seen what his true place inMortal Kombat 1’s competitive scene will be. Nolan is still the same Viltrumite powerhouse thatInvinciblefans remember, butMortal Kombat 1gives him a lot of stiff competition.
