Booster Energyis a new held item introduced inPokemon Scarlet & Violet, and players will want to make sure they get it. The item can help bring certain Pokemon to the next level in ranked battles and Tera Raids.

Paradox Pokemon are a big deal inPokemon Scarlet & Violet. The archaic forerunners and advanced future generation of Pokemon are akin to modern Ultra Beasts. Though they aren’t actually legendaries and can be caught multiple times, they have stats on par with the likes of Zapdos and Suicune.

What is Booster Energy Used For in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Booster Energy is a new held item inPokemon Scarlet & Violetthat Paradox Pokemon can use. The item activates the Quark Drive and Protosynthesis abilities used by allParadox Pokemon except Koraidonand Miraidon. The only drawback is that Booster Energy is useless for non-Paradox Pokemon and has no effect if a regular Pokemon use it.

Quark Drive is used by the futuristicPokemon VioletPokemon, boosting their best attack or defense stat by 30% or boosting their speed by 50% when Electric Terrain is active. The primitive Paradox Pokemon ofPokemon Scarlethave Protosynthesis, which does the same if Sunny Day is active.

A free stat boost is helpful, but the requirement of Electric Terrain or Sunny Day makes it unreliable. Booster Energy guarantees that the ability stays active even if the weather or terrain changes. For the time being, it’s almost unanimously the best item to give to Paradox Pokemon in Tera Raids. That will likely also be the case in ranked battles once Paradox Pokemon are legalized.

How to Get Booster Energy in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Booster Energy is found in Lab Zero atthe very end ofPokemon ScarletandViolet’s story. The item is easy to spot and is found on the ground after coming face-to-face with the professor.

Alongside this, Paradox Pokemon caught in the wild have a 5% chance of holding one. Players can farm more Booster Energy by either capturing wild Paradox Pokemon or using the move Thief. The only Pokemon that learns this move normally is Bombirdier, but the move can also be taught via TM to dozens of different Pokemon, including Tinkaton, Revavroom, and Meowscarada.

Players can also use Pokemon with the ability Frisk to find out if a wild Pokemon has the item.Gothitelle, Grimmsnarl, Noivern, andEspathraall have Frisk as a regular ability. That said, it’s easy to spot whether a Paradox Pokemon has Booster Energy, as the item will activate at the start of the battle with the player being notified with a pop-up message.
