Batsare small mouse-like mammals with wings and are the only mammal able to sustain flying. They are more agile than most birds, have fingers at the end of their wings, and are often nocturnal. Bats are also creatures that players commonly come across in games and make frequent appearances, such as in the gameTerraria.They can be passive mobs, enemies, or even NPCs.

5Minecraft
The bats fromMinecraftare a flyingpassive mob and one of the fewbats in gaming that aren’t enemies that attack players. They can be found in dark areas underground such as caves and can be killed, but don’t drop any items or experience. These bats are small, harmless, and squeak occasionally.
They constantly spawn when a player is nearby and despawn when the player leaves the area. They can fly around randomly or hang upside down from solid blocks but will fly away if players get too close or break the block they hang from. Around Halloween, bats appear more frequently.

Battons are recurring robot bats in the originalMega Manseries made to patrol forests. These creatures get upgraded tonewer versions in later games. They often look like bubbles with wings and are considered to have very little intelligence.

Most Battons are indestructible when their wings are closed and hanging from the ceiling. They can be attacked only when their wings are open and chasing a target. One of the later iterations called the Batton Bone, a common enemy in theMega Man Xseries can be damaged while upsidedown and unmoving.

Keese are small, nimble bat-like creatures that appear inmost ofThe Legend of Zeldagames. They are mainly found in caves and dungeons, though sometimes appear in the overworld. They often appear in clusters and are usually dark-skinned. Keese are a common and weak enemy that are more of a nuisance than a threat because they can be killed with a variety of weapons easily.
They will either fly around randomly or rest on nearby rock faces and target and attack when Link moves near them, though pause before striking which gives Link a chance to attack. There are multiple types of Keese based on their surroundings, with the most common being Fire and Ice to adapt to volcanic or snowy environments. Less common versions include Electric, Shadow, and Dark.
2Dragon Quest
There are multiple bat enemies intheDragon Questseries, including Fat Bat, Vampire Bat, Bone Bat, and Batatouille, but one of the most well-known is Dracky. They are recurring creatures that are silly cartoon bats named after Dracula.

They have round feet, bodies, and eyes, big wings, a long thin tail, and a fanged mouth that is always smiling. Drackies are typically a weak enemy and don’t appear very smart, much like slimes, but can become powerful monsters. One of the advantages Drackies have is that they’re very fast with high evasion rates.

From dark types to poison types and even a legendary one, there are tons ofPokemon based on bats. The most notable from thePokemonfranchise include Zubat, Golbat, Crobat, Gligar, Gliscor, Woobat, Swoobat, Noibat, Noivern, and Lunala. They can look edgy and scary or soft and cute and the bats vary in dual-typing to include categories besides just flying, such as psychic, dragon, or ghost.
Players will normally come across these Pokemon in caves or dark places. They have many different bat traits, like pointy wings similar to dragons. Many of them have similar appearances, like Woobat and Swoobat both having heart-shaped noses or Crobat and Gliscor being purple. Classic bat traits are present as well, like fangs for sucking blood on Golbat and Gliscor, big ears on Noibat, or hints that a bat uses echolocations like on Zubat who has no eyes.
