With a release date of Fall 2023, the game looks to be coming together quite nicely and should be another exciting adventure for comic book fans and action game enthusiasts.
As is often the case leading up to the launch of a high-profile game, leaks and rumors are beginning to do the rounds on the internet.Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is no exception, with details regarding the plot and characters being found on websites such as Reddit. These kinds of unofficial reports should always be taken with a grain of salt, but speculation is always great food for thought, and if a recent rumor proves true, Insomniac’s upcoming game may inadvertently spoil an upcoming MCU reveal.

The Many Suits of the Amazing Spider-Man
A pivotal part of any superhero is the suit design, and Spider-Man has had several since he first appeared on the pages of Marvel Comics in 1962. In his 60 years of being a pop culture icon, the swinging superhero has donned a bevy of colorful costumes in comics, movies, TV shows, and even video games.Marvel’s Spider-Manin 2018 was like a love letter to the character, featuring a large selection of some of the character’s most infamous suits. These ranged from the suit worn by Tobey Maguire in theSam RaimiSpider-Manfilms, to the most niche comic book references such as the Amazing Bag Man.

Naturally, withMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, players are expecting yet another laundry list of classic Spidey suits to wear while swinging through New York City. Anew rumor forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2suggests that fans will have access to a Symbiote variant for every costume in the upcoming game, granting access to one of the most iconic looks the web swinger has ever sported in his treasured comic book history.
A Possible Tease of the MCU Symbiote
This is of course an exciting prospect for fans, as the Symbiote suit leads to some of Spider-Man’s most unique abilities and standout character moments. It has also had wildly different interpretations over the years, from the 90sSpider-Mancartoon to theUltimate Spider-Mancomic book series and even past video games such asSpider-Man: Web of Shadows. The Symbiote of course leads to the sinister villain known as Venom, who in a post-credits tease showed up in 2021’sSpider-Man: No Way Home. Although a brief clip, a piece of the suit is teased to have been left behind, which fans can assume will latch ontoTom Holland’s MCU version of Spider-Manat some point.
The next MCU film starring Spider-Man is still in early development, so it remains to be seen exactly how the plot shapes together. However, with the Symbiote already teased to appear andMarvel’s Spider-Man 2coming out first, fans may be getting an early glimpse at what the MCU version of the Symbiote suit looks like. If true, this inclusion could also be an intentional move from Sony and Marvel to help build anticipation for the upcoming film and provide fans a tease of what to expect when the Symbiote (and potentially Venom) join the MCU’s already massive ensemble.
