Wolfenstein 3may be currently in development at MachineGames right now. A new job listing hinted that the publisher ZeniMax may be looking for people to work on a new title for theWolfensteinfranchise, which increases the chances that fans may get a sequel to the games, which has some ofthe best villains ever, soon.
Wolfensteinis one of the most classic FPS franchises ever. What started as an obscure action-adventure game focused on stealth in 1981 became the basis forWolfenstein 3Din 1992, the game that essentially created the FPS genre a year beforeDoomwas released. The series was brought back in 2014 withWolfenstein: The New Order, developed by MachineGames. The game was a big hit and spawned a sequel and a spin-off, being once more hailed among the best FPS series of the 2010s.

Now,Wolfenstein 3may be under production or at least about to start, as a job listing indicates that the studio is looking for a new hire. The job listings were found by Hard2DaC0re, who shared them on Reddit. ZeniMax is currently looking for candidates for a Senior Animator position. The recruiters are specifically looking for someone who has a passion for immersive first-person shooters and who has participated in the full production cycle of at least one AAA game before. There’s another detail that makes it even more likely that this is about a newWolfenstein, though, as the “preferred skills” section lists a strong familiarity with games developed by MachineGames.
Unfortunately, there are not any details about the game at the moment, including whether the project exists or not, so gamers should treat this as no more than speculation. For instance, it’s unclear who will be the new protagonist, in case the game exists. B.J. Blazkowicz was the protagonist for the first two titles, butWolfenstein: Youngbloodchoose to instead starthe sisters Jess and Soph Blazkowicz, the so-called Terror Twins. The reception of the latest title was not as positive as the first games, though, which leaves the question open.
Wolfenstein 3would certainly be an excellent addition to Xbox Game Pass, which is suffering from a lack of big, successful titles in 2023. Microsoft is having theXbox Games Showcase on June 11, and there’s a chance that gamers may learn more about the theoretical newWolfensteingame there. The main star of the show, however, is obviously Bethesda’sStarfield, which is certainly the most highly-anticipated game to hit Game Pass this year.
