There was plenty of hype surrounding the first chapter ofJOJOLands, and it’s fair to say that it lived up to it. Araki took a break from writing manga for a little more than a year, and from the looks of it, his head is filled with new ideas. The first chapter ofJOJOLandsintroduced several characters who will play important roles in the manga.
However, the onus was on Jodio Joestar,the new protagonist. Jodio’s silhouette was teased in an artwork released by Araki for the New Year. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that his face was revealed to the readers.

Jodio’s Debut
The first chapter revealed lots of new information to the readers, including the names of different characters. Out of the multiple new characters, the most notable ones were Jodio Joestar, Dragona Joestar, Paco Laburantes, and Merly Mei Qi. Most fans were intrigued by Jodio’s connection to Joseph, and in the chapter, it was confirmed that he is the grandson of Joseph Joestar and Suzi Q. Jodio Joestar had an impressive debut, as he protected his older sibling, Dragona from some villainous police officers. To save his sibling,Jodio used his Stand, which is named November Rain. Araki has always used the names of famous artists or their works for the nomenclature of Stands, and in Jodio’s case, the Stand is named after the famous Guns n Roses song.
As the name suggests, the Stand’s power is related to rain. Jodio used the Stand’s power to create rain that crushed one of the police officers to death. This implies that the Stand is powerful, but its true power remains unknown. When it comes to appearance, the Stand looks much bigger than Jodio, although it’s mainly because of its long stilt-like legs.
Jodio also seems intrigued by the “mechanisms” of the world. He believes everything that happens is due to the mechanisms of the world. He confidently states that his wealth and fame are all due to the work of the mechanisms. The next chapters will undoubtedly disclose more information about these mechanisms and how they affect the life of the young Joestar.
The Protective Sibling Dragona Joestar
Dragona Joestar also had an interesting debut. They are Jodio’s older sibling, and they seem to care a lot about them. Despite the difference in their ages, Dragona and Jodio have no secrets from each other. They work together and have rather good coordination. Dragona and Jodio are very protective of each other. When the police officer began harassing Dragona, Jodio stepped out of the car and killed one of them. In contrast to Jodio, Dragona seems more mature and calm.
They can keep their cool for longer, but they also can’t stand when their brother’s life is in danger.
When the other police officer pulled his gun on Jodio, Dragona used their Stand, Smooth Operators to attack the enemy. Smooth Operators' power allowed Dragona to alter his face, after which the two siblings jumped him. Unlike most Stands, Smooth Operators is acolony of small Stands, just like Metallica and Harvest.
The Story So Far
In the first chapter, Jodio and Dragona could be seen dealing with the two police officers. After killing both of them, the two siblings expertly wiped all the evidence, which suggests that they have had many run-ins with the law. The chapter also disclosed that the two are involved with illegal things such as drugs and robberies.

The two siblings work for their school’s principal, Meryl Mei Qi. From the looks of things, Mei Qi is a powerful woman with connections to people in positions of power. In the chapter, she gave Jodio, Dragona, and Paco a job to steal an expensive diamond. As they were getting ready to head out, Merly Mei Qi told them that they would be joined by a new member. The trio wasn’t keen on the addition, but they couldn’t oppose their boss.
Chapter 2 Release Date
The next chapter of JOJOLands is expected to be released on Jul 28, 2025.The chapter will be released in Ultra Jump. As of now, there is no way to read the chapters legally, as Ultra Jump doesn’t have an application like Shonen Jump. So, the only option is to wait and hope that it changes in the future.
What To Expect
The second chapter ofJOJOLandswill see Jodio, Dragona, Paco, and the new member get together and start formulating a plan to get inside the place of the rich Japanese tourist. On paper, it should be a routine heist, but Araki might apply a twist or two of his own to make things more interesting. The Japanese tourist is very likely a Stand user, and he could cause a heap of trouble for Jodio’s group. If this turns out to be the case, Jodio’s team will have to be extremely careful.
It will also be interesting to see if Jodio, Dragona, and Paco get along with their new teammate. Judging from their initial reaction, they weren’t happy to have another member. While Mei Qi reassured them that the new person was capable, there is a good chance that he could turn tail and jeopardize the entire operation. There are certainly many possibilities, so the question is:what choice will Araki make?
