Without a doubt, many are looking forward to the next official update onLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Outside of its various delays (likely and understandably related to the COVID-19 pandemic), not much has been revealed about the game in recent months outside the bevy of information fans had known already. The game will feature all 9Star Warsmovies and include DLC for a variety of related projects, includingThe Mandalorian.

It’ll be interesting to see what developer TT Games does to freshen up old content, as well as how the game handles the latest two movies in the franchise:The Last JediandRise of Skywalker. With that in mind, a recent tongue-in-cheek conversation between two devs gives some small insights into development of the last movie.

First, another key detail to know is that TT Games was unaware of anyRise of Skywalkercontent prior to the movie’s release in December 2019. The time beforehand was spent working on the rest ofLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but anything forRise of Skywalkerlikely did not start until after then.

In a farewell-style post from Jack Chapman, who recently left TT Games for Sumo Digital, he and fellow dev Ryan Roper briefly discussed working on episode 9 content. Roper comments that it was a pleasure working with Chapman and that he couldn’t wait for everyone to see the work Chapman did onLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. In response, Chapman jokes that he had “PTSD” from working on Episode 9 content, with Roper also saying that doing so was the “most fun [he’s] had and the most miserable [he’s] been.”

The exact “why” wasn’t mentioned, and it could be for any number of reasons. The aforementioned timeframe for content makes sense, especially when the work on the final movie couldn’t happen any sooner. Not to mention, it was around March 2020 when many parts of the world began shutting down due to the pandemic, likely complicating development onLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s Rise of Skywalkercontent. After all, in May 2020, the game’s release date was posted as June 05, 2025, just for that trailer to be taken down and re-uploaded without that date on the same day.

In August 2020, a newLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagarelease datewindow was announced as Spring 2021, but in April 2020, that was delayed indefinitely. It’s been a trying time for the whole industry, but regardless of what Chapman and Roper were referring to, many are excited to check out the new game,Rise of Skywalkerand all.
