Wizards of the Coast has officially revealed the cards it’ll be including inMagic: The Gatheringthrough its crossover with the post-apocalyptic world ofFallout. The crossover between the two popular franchises is part of the card game’s Universes Beyond series, which saw the addition ofThe Walking Dead,Warhammer 40k, andThe Lord of the Rings-themed cards.
Wizards of the Coast announced duringMagic: The Gathering’s 30th anniversarythat it plans to collaborate with hit video game franchises for its Universes Beyond Series. Back then, it confirmed it was planning to do a crossover between the popular card game and theFalloutandFinal Fantasyfranchises, with the developer releasing the respective cards for these crossovers in 2024 and 2025, respectively. It also revealed thatFalloutCommander Decks are coming toMagic: The Gatheringsometime in March 2024.

To that end, Wizards of the Coast recently revealed the cards it will soon release as part of itsMagic: The Gatheringcrossover with theFalloutfranchise. According to its announcement, the crossover’s four Commander Decks, Scrappy Survivors, Science!, Hail, Caesar, and Mutant Menace, are themed to key elements of theFalloutfranchise: Survival, Technology, Military, and Mutants. These decks contain full-art lands and Saga cards that will showcase the haunting and dangerous environments of the post-apocalyptic franchise and tell the stories of the atom-punk alternate reality America. They also have Pip-Boy framed cards forFalloutfans to admire.
The Scrappy Survivors Commander Deck features Dogmeat as its commander. Much as its theme suggests, this deck focuses on scavenging for tools, Food tokens, and allies. It also introduces Junk tokens that players can sacrifice to draw cards. Meanwhile, the Science! Commander Deck focuses on high-tech energy weapons, scientists, synths, and pre-war robots. This deck hasFallout 3andFallout 4’s Madison Lias its commander; it allows players to play artifacts to generate energy, a returning mechanic fit for theFalloutfranchise.
The Hail, Caesar Commander deck featuresFallout: New Vegas’Caesar as its commander and cards that revolve around wasteland raiders and leaders ofFallout’s militant factionsand their soldiers. This deck allows players to use the squad mechanic to create extra token copies of creatures and be aggressive in the field. Finally, the Mutant Menace Commander Deck revolves around theFalloutfranchise’s dangerous, powerful, and strange mutated creatures like the Feral Ghouls, withFallout 76’s Mothman being this deck’s commander. Through the use of Radiation tokens, players with this deck can either power up the creatures in the deck or impact their opponents'.
Magic: The Gathering’s crossoverwith theFalloutfranchise is the first time Wizards of the Coast introduced a sci-fi, post-nuclear theme to its decks. Nevertheless, fans of both franchises would be pleased with how the developer handledFallout’s translation into a card game.
