Magic: The Gatheringis racking up a lot of interesting crossovers lately. Recent memory includesMagiccards representing characters fromGodzillaandThe Walking Dead, and there’s more interesting crossovers up ahead. Wizards of the Coast has struck deals forMagic: The Gatheringto represent franchises likeWarhammer 40kandLord of the Ringsvia its classic trading cards. It’s always interesting to see howMagic’s crossovers interact with very different brands and push the boundaries of theMagicformula. However,Magic’s new collaboration with RockLove might be completely different from anything it’s done before.

For those who don’t know RockLove, it’s a jewelry line started by Allison Cimino in 2008. While the carefully crafted accessories sold by RockLove are impressive in their own right, it’s much more than a usual jewelry brand. RockLove has built a reputation for collaboration with huge parts of pop culture to make jewelry that fans can wear to show their support for their favorite shows, games, and movies.Star Trekhas been a close friendof RockLove’s for years, and there’s merchandise forStar Wars, Pokemon, League of Legends, and much more. The next big team-up for RockLove is withMagic: The Gathering, and there’s lots of interesting pieces available in this line.

Examining RockLove’s Wares

Most of theMagic: The Gatheringjewelry that RockLove is selling was designed around a particular theme: four of the six pieces are styled after iconic artifacts fromMagichistory. While the Mox Diamond necklace uses cubic zirconia instead of a real diamond, the final result looks shockingly like the Mox Diamond’s card art. The same goes for the other artifacts represented in the collection. Fans of Kamigawa can pick up a Sensei’s Divining Top necklace, while moreclassically mindedMagicfanscan look into Mana Vault or Black Vise accessories. Considering the impact these artifacts have had onMagic’s meta before, it’s more than appropriate that they’re being immortalized as jewelry.

The other two pieces in RockLove’sMagic: The Gatheringcollection are a little different. They’re a necklace and a signet ring, both made from sterling silver and inlaid with five colored crystals depictingthe cycle of mana colors inMagic. While these aren’t as elaborate as the artifact necklaces, they’re a little more affordable, and still seem like a fun accessory for showing off a love forMagic.Plus, after all these years ofMagiccards using jewels to represent the five colors of mana, it only seems right that one of RockLove’s pieces brings them together in the same way.

Mythic Rare Jewelry

It should be noted that RockLove’sMagicjewelry isn’t going to be around forever. RockLove is only producing a few hundred or up to a thousand of each piece, so availability is very limited. It’s selling the pieces in waves, and some of the pieces are already sold out for the first wave. It’ll be a little whilebeforeMagicfans can claim a piecefrom the next wave of the collection. Fans interested in this jewelry had better keep their eye on the collection and pick up a piece whenever they can. They’ll surely be pretty rare after a while.

Magic: The Gatheringisn’t a franchise that’s short on merchandise. It’s represented ineverything from T-shirts to Funko popsto novelizations of the story. Still, that doesn’t mean it’s collaboration with RockLove is anything less special. In fact, the RockLove collaboration is really unique. These pieces of jewelry physically bring to life classic artifacts and symbology in a way that’s hard to compare to any otherMagicmerch. It’s certainly a good idea for a team-up. Considering how many other famous artifacts there are inMagic’s history, maybe Wizards of the Coast will strike a deal with RockLove to bring more artifacts to life.

Magic: The Gatheringis available now in game stores and digitally throughMagic Arena.RockLove’sMagic: The Gatheringjewelry is also available now on the RockLove website.
