A new character skin for Spider-Man is coming toMarvel’s Avengerstomorrow, based on the character’s appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specificallySpider-Man: Far From Home.Marvel’s Avengershas had a rocky relationship with fans and players since its initial reveal at E3 2019, with the game struggling to return a profit for Square Enix, as well as controversies galore surrounding the game’s handling of microtransactions and its ties to the leveling system.A strong defense of the game is its inclusion of several free DLC expansions that include several new playable characters from every corner of the Marvel Universe, including Kate Bishop and Clint Barton,along with Black Panther and a massive story in Wakanda. However, the character most players was waiting on to be added to the game was Spider-Man, whom developer Crystal Dynamics announced would only be available for the PlayStation versions of the game due to Sony’s exclusive rights for the character.RELATED:Marvel’s Avengers Adds Highly Requested Kate Bishop Skin from Disney Plus Hawkeye SeriesSpider-Man wasofficially added toMarvel’s Avengerson November 30, and now the character is finally receiving new cosmetics. On the officialMarvel’s AvengersTwitter account, the team announced that a new costume variant for Spider-Man based on his appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be added to the game’s marketplace starting January 27.
The costume in particular is based on the character’s appearance inSpider-Man: Far From Home, the 23rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the second film in the MCUSpider-Mantrilogy starring Tom Holland. This costume would then appear again in last year’sSpider-Man: No Way Home, which included a new “Integrated Suit” that itself wasrecently added to the remastered version ofMarvel’s Spider-Manfor PS5.
It’s exciting to see one of the film versions of Spider-Man be represented inMarvel’s Avengers, though it’s not the only cosmetic based on Marvel Cinematic Universe to be included in the game.MCU variant costumes for other characterslike Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Black Widow have all been added to the game thus far to welcome praise from fans.
It may be awhile until fans get any skins based on the other film versions of Spider-Man, but it’s good to know thatMarvel’s Avengerstook inspiration from at least one to please them for the time being. Here’s hoping thatmore exciting character skinsfor the friendly neighborhood hero get to swing into the game in the near future.
