Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has a tentative release window of 2023, and it will likely still be some time before fans hear more news. Having shared a release window so early was surprising, especially alongside the announcement thatInsomniac Games is developingMarvel’s Wolverineas a standalone game at the same time. Certain antagonists forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2have already been teased or revealed, such as Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, and Venom, but there is one feature fans hope to hear about most: cosmetic suits.
One of the most-requested suit skins that players have been begging Insomniac for sinceMarvel’s Spider-ManisAndrew Garfield’s suit fromThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as a black symbiote suit. The latter will surely be involved in some capacity if Peter ends up becoming a temporary host for the alien organism, but other potential suits are currently undetermined or purely speculative. However,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2alsohas a fantastic opportunity to release skins adapted from Spider-Man’s costume catalog inMarvel’s Midnight Suns, which releases this October.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Spider-Man Suits Would be Great in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Manexcelled with a diverse range of costume skins from across comic books, movies, and animation. Having an abundance of cosmetic skins has become a staple of many modern single-player and multiplayer games, contributing to the degree that players can customize their experiences with them.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2will surely continue this trend, and there are tons of potential suits Insomniac could pick as part of its own inspired catalog.Marvel’s Midnight Sunsis no different. In fact, whileMarvel’s Midnight Sunshas only shown a couple of costume skins per-character, its aesthetic is unique. These black, white, and gold suits accent each character’s iconography, and also have the added flair of flames that envelop them while empowered.

Spider-Man’s costume is even more distinctive, as it features multiple red irises on black mask lenses and clawed fingers, making him look more like an arachnid-human hybrid. Out of all the cosmeticsMarvel’s Spider-Man 2could adapt, thisMarvel’s Midnight Sunsskin would make a great addition.
The suit also features extended legs from the back, andMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s reveal traileralready depicted similar leg appendages in Peter Parker’s armaments.Marvel’s Midnight Sunsalso features its own basic red-and-blue suit for Spider-Man thatSpider-Man 2could use, but the black, white, and gold suit would need to be a priority.

Yuri Lowenthal is Spider-Man’s Connective Tissue
In terms of relevance to any kind of canon,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2andMarvel’s Midnight Sunsare only related with regard to the Marvel source material. Otherwise, the two games are completely separate, having their own narratives and iterations of characters. That said, there is one piece of connective tissue that tethers one to the other: the fact that Yuri Lowenthal plays the role of Spider-Man in each game. These two Peters are different, but they share the same actor.
This initially caused fans to question whetherMarvel’s Midnight Suns’ Spider-Manwas the same as the titular character inMarvel’s Spider-Man, but that has since been debunked. Firaxis may have simply liked the actor’s rendition of the character, but fans hearing this Peter talking will undoubtedly hearMarvel’s Spider-Man’s Peter - at least for a little while.
Still,Lowenthal is a great bridge between the two gamesand assist with making cosmetic skin adaptations more fluid. If players are able to don theMarvel’s Midnight Sunsskin inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter could perhaps remark on it by mentioning that he remembers having worn the look previously. This would allude to Lowenthal’s contribution to the character in another game, making a fun reference and Easter egg for any fans of both titles.
