Xbox Game Passis the subscription service from Microsoft that allows players to choose from hundreds of titles on either their PC or Xbox, depending on the membership they choose. Game Pass is always adding new and interesting titles, and a lot of upcoming major releases, such asRedfallandHigh on Life, will be available from day one on the service. Recently, some gamers spotted a couple of major titles that appeared to be making their way to Xbox Game Pass.

Those titles wereElden RingandGrand Theft Auto 5, which would both be major additions to Xbox’s Game Pass roster. While some screenshots posted online did seem like these titles were coming to Game Pass, there was another theory that instead of being available on the subscription service,Elden RingandGTA 5would instead be playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming, which streams games to a user’s device. However, it seems that the titles might not be coming to either service, following a statement from Microsoft.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Microsoft has stated thatElden RingandGTA 5displaying as games compatible with Game Pass and Cloud Gaming was a bug. Microsoft said that it is “aware of a bug that incorrectly displayed some titles as available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.” According to the company, a fix was rolled out for this bug, and theElden RingandGTA 5store pages have since been updated, removing mention of availability withXbox Game Pass.

This will undoubtedly be disappointing to some, who had wanted to play these major releases for the price of Game Pass Ultimate, rather than paying for the titles in full.Elden RingandGTA 5won’t be coming toXbox Cloud Streamingeither, something that fans had hoped for considering Microsoft’s previous statements on expanding the service. Some had even hoped the release of these titles on either service could be a part of Xbox’s Gamescom presentation. However, it seems the company has other plans lined up for that show later in August.
