An incredibly frustrating bug inMidnight Sunshas reappeared with the release of the game’s Blood Storm DLC. Adding the powerful X-Men member Storm toMidnight Sunsmay have added new content to the game, but it did not include a fix for a bug that’s been plaguing the game since DLC started rolling out. Players have taken to community forums to complain that they are unable to unlock Blood Storm-related achievements/trophies, short of starting the game over entirely.

Midnight Suns' expansion pass has seen the release of four different DLC packs. EachDLC pack in theMidnight Sun’s expansion passincluded a new character, as well as new story content. Deadpool, Venom, Morbius, and most recently Storm, have been released now, bringing the expansion pass to its conclusion. Each piece of DLC also has a selection of achievements associated with it. For example, Blood Storm DLC achievements task players to complete story missions, research, challenges, and other tasks.

Unfortunately, not every player that completes these achievements will get credit for them.Midnight Sunsplayers are reporting that upon completion, many if not all the DLC’s associated achievements are not correctly activating. There’s no clear immediate fix for the problem. Players have reloaded saves to complete the content again, restarted their games, and more. The only apparent fix that works is for players to restart their game entirely, either with a new save or viaMidnight Suns' New Game Plus option.

It isn’t entirely clear how manyMidnight Sunsplayers are being impacted by the bug. It’s certainly not a rare issue, but it doesn’t appear to affect everyMidnight Sunsplayer, either. Some are even saying that they’re correctly receiving certain achievements but then can’t earn the rest. If there’s a reason players’Midnight Sunssave files are breaking, it’s not obvious.

The lack of a solution is not only frustratingMidnight Sunsplayers but also itsdevelopers at Firaxis, it seems. This bug is not new to the Blood Storm DLC. It has been part ofMidnight Sunssince the release of its first DLC and has been active in every DLC release since. It’s unclear if Firaxis is working on fixing the bug or if it’s going to stay this way forever. At the very least, it’s something new players going forward won’t have to deal with unless there’s more DLC.

Midnight Sunshas had an overall challenging development. It launched with technical issues on PC, had itsNintendo Switch port canceled, and overall struggled commercially. Firaxis may not be budgeted for continued technical support forMidnight Suns, meaning it can’t justify fixing these bugs even if it wants to. At least the issue is only related to achievements and not actual game progression. Still, it’s a sad punishment forMidnight Suns' most dedicated players.

Midnight Sunsis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
