However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a huge variety of creatures for players to stumble across inRise. On the contrary,Risefeatures a ton of difficult monsters,including 9 brand new ones, that will certainly please any fan of the franchise. Of all those available to fight, here are some of the toughest.
10Anjanath, The Fire-Breathing T-Rex
Introduced inMonster Hunter: World, the Anjanath essentially looks like a flying Tyrannosaurus. It uses its nose to sniff out potential prey, but will also relentlessly chase anything that dares attack them. The Anjanath can breathe fire like a dragon, and can use its jaws to rip its foes apart.
As a fire element monster, theAnjanath is weakest to water, which that players may want to keep in mind if they plan to take down this beast. The Anjanath can typically be found in the forests or plains ofMonster Hunter Rise.
9Rathalos Is Deadly In Any Environment
The Rathalos has appeared in every installment of theMonster Hunterseries, becoming a staple of the franchise. But just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s easy to defeat. Appearing in any kind of environment, the Rathalos are flying creatures, often stalking their prey from above before striking.

They’re also highly territorial and automatically aggressive towards any outsiders. The Rathalos can strike with its poisonous talons, or shoot fire projectiles at potential hunters. These creatures aren’t any easier when grounded. They can use both their clubbed tail and sharp teeth to inflict tons of damage towards players.
8Zinogre Charges To Full Power
Occupying the mountainous regions of the game, Zinogre is a thunder-element monster that can charge itself to make itself more powerful. The Zinogre will often summon Thunderbugs from the nearby area, using their electrical abilities to charge itself.
It has two different charge levels and becomes more powerful with each level. However, it is vulnerable while charging. Players can also visually see which level Zinogre is at. At its first level Thunderbugs will fly around its body, while at the second, Zinogre’s fur will stand on end.
7Mizutsune’s Deadly Water Attacks
Mizutsune isn’t typically an aggressive monster. However, males tend to act up during mating season, making them a prime target for hunters. While Mizutsune has appeared in several games,Monster Hunter Risegives it several new abilities, making it a tougher foe.
Along with its usual abilities, the Mizutsune can now shoot out short bursts of water that inflict waterblight onto the player. It can also use claw slam to attack its opponents, and shoot its water beam upwards. It then sweeps the water beam either from right-to-left or left-to-right.
6Almudron, The Menacing Mud Monster
One of the brand new monsters introduced inMonster Hunter Rise, the Almudron is a Leviathan that can be found in the plains or forest area. It normally would reside deep in the mountains, but in the events ofRisehas ventured out to attack human civilization.

Almudron is a muddy monster, and often uses mud to its advantage. It can use its tail to create a massive wave of mud or create giant walls of mud to trap its prey. Almudron has also been known to drag its prey deep under the mud.
5Magnamalo Attacks Without Mercy
At some point during their playthrough, players may find a Rathalos carrying this brand new monster as its prey. To their surprise, the Magnamalo jumps onto the back of the Rathalos, attacking and killing it while forcing the both of them to dive to the ground.
Needless to say, Magnamalo isn’t a creature to be taken lightly. It will attack players relentlessly, often performing back-to-back attacks and giving little to no time for retaliation. It can also use its tail for a variety of attacks, from simple melee to detonating thick clouds of purple gas.
4Nargacuga’s Whole Body Is A Weapon
A Wyvern belonging to the water element, the Nargacuga is a brutal monster introduced inMonster HunterFreedom Unite. The main problem that makes Nargacuga such a threat is that it can attack with almost every part of its body.
It will primarily use its bladed wings and spiked tail. Players should take special care to avoid the wings since they do high damage, though they shouldn’t underestimate the dangerous tail tip. Nargacuga can also use its head to bite and jump long distances.
3Thunder Serpent Narwa Is A Formidable Boss
The Thunder Serpent Narwa is currently the final boss for the Hub Quest, so players should expect a difficult battle going in. An Elder Dragon with the element of thunder, this boss fight consists of various elements from telekinesis to electric attacks.
The Thunder Serpent Narwa can cause metal rock platforms to rise from its thunder attack andwill use “thunder sacs” on its bellyto send out rings or beams of electricity. This fight is so difficult that it’s actually divided into three parts, so players should definitely think twice before heading into it.
2Diablos Are Deadly Desert-Dwellers
Diablos is one of the oldest and iconic creaturesin theMonster Huntergames. Found in the desert, it often uses its habitat to its advantage, to the detriment of any hunter to come across it. Diablos can burrow underground only to resurface for a surprise attack.

Above ground, Diablos is just as dangerous. These creatures can run at high speeds, and have a roar that can stun players. It can also use its speed and its horns to create a charge attack, creating maximum damage.
1Goss Harag Uses Blades Of Ice
Goss Harag is a new addition to theMonster Hunterworld, and it’s already gotten a reputation for beingone of the most difficult in the game. Located solely in the Frost Islands, this is a fanged beast with the element of ice. Goss Harag can inhale cold air to breathe out a devastating icy blast, as well as use it to create blades of ice on its arms.
It can then plant its blades on the ground and shatter it, sending shards flying towards players. The Goss Harag can also smash its fists on the ground, creating shockwaves. To say that fighting Goss Harag is difficult would be a massive understatement – plan wisely before trying.
