How To Unlock Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax

Like otherRisen Elder Dragons, Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax is only unlocked by Adept Hunters, who reach an extremely high Master Rank level. Specifically, they’ll need to get to Master Rank 160 to unlock the quest, “Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax,” which will task Hunters to find and defeat the beast at the Sandy Plains.

At the time of publishing this post, Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax is currently the most brutal fight in the game by a large margin, even amongst other Risen Elder Dragons. With that in mind, players should first understand how to fight this beast.

How To Defeat Rise Crimson Glow Valstrax

As one would expect, this monster hits extremely hard, borderline one-shotting any player in its path, even in its normal state. At the start of the fight, Valstrax will remain in its normal mode and fight like it usually would, performing sky attacks, rushing hunters, etc… However, when enough damage is dealt, Valstrax will enter its Risen state, and it’s safe to say that “Risen” Crimson Glow Valstrax is one of the strongest monsters in the franchise’s history.

When entering the Risen State, Valstrax gains an abundance of new moves, the majority being second attacks to pre-existing moves. For example, its iconic “beam” attack, which would typically be only one blast, is now two back-to-back. The same applies for its Flurry attacks, where Valstrax repeatedly uses its wings to slash at a Hunter, which is now broken up into two segments rather than one.

However, Hunters should mainly be wary of its signature move, “Around the World,” which has now been upgraded into the “stellar Shower Ambush.” Like usual, Valstrax will let out a roar and fly into the sky out of sight. Typically, it would then come crashing down on the hunter, dealing immense damage while leaving barely any room to dodge. However, while Valstrax is still flying in the air, it will now shoot down red orbs that deal dragon damage, exploding shortly after landing. This move essentially covers the whole area, and the only way to evade getting one shot from it is to emergency evade twice in a row, first to avoid the explosion from the orbs, then to avoid Valstrax’s impact.

With a monster as powerful as that, it’s thankful that the game made almost all of the main elements, Fire, Ice, Water, and Thunder, extremely strong to use against the beast. Players should use these elements on their weapons and aim for the head or chest, as that is where the most damage will be dealt.

Overall, Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax is far and away one of thestrongest monstersthe franchise has ever seen and is undoubtedly the current most powerful monster in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
