Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realmsstar Fred Tatasciore, who voices the mad Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn, talks about how the film isn’t pulling any punches and discusses the film’s brutality.Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realmspicks up right after the previous film,Scorpion’s Revenge,in which the warriors of Earthrealm are forced into a battle with Outworld over the fate of their realm.
Fred Tatasciore is a decorated voice actor with roles ranging from many different universes and mediums. In addition to his turn as Shao Kahn inMortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, his voice roles include played Hulk, Crossbones, Carnage, Lizard,DC Comics Deathstroke, The Thing, Red Hulk, Beast, The Juggernaut, Qui-Gon Jinn, Hades, Commissioner Gordon, and Zeus, to name a few.

Tatasciore plays the evil warlord, and while the defenders of Earthrealm will be busy fighting with the warriors of Outworld,Scorpion is tasked with the retrievalof the ancient Kamidogu amulet before it gets used to revive the One Being to bring the destruction of all living things. This being sounds deadlier than the mad emperor Shao Kahn himself, which is saying something considering Kahn is known for his brutality. Tatasciore enjoyed playing the villain of this iconic franchise (especially one who is so brutal) and discussed the violence of the film during an interview with ComicBook.com.
Tatasciore loved the closeups of the kill scenes and without spoiling anything, he says that there is an opening death scene that lets fans know the creators won’t be messing around this time. “We’re not pulling punches and people are getting dismembered… There are a couple of scenes where I rip a significant person in half,” the actor said. “[When I get to] say ‘Fatality,’ I was like, ‘Wow. We’re going there. We’re going deep.’ It’s so barbaric”.
Tatasciore talked about theclose-up X-ray shots inMortal Kombatthat have been popularized by the ninth installment of the games and made their way into the movie. “Here a fight, but here’s what happens when a fist goes through a man’s skull [Laughs] I think the audience will be shocked and awed by that,” the actor goes on to say.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realmswas teased with multiple clips about the plot and the characters,with one scene showing Johnny Cagemaking a mockery of Kitana and Kintaro. The film looks to continue the theme of the dark comedy action-adventure film genre, so here’s to hoping that it’s received well by fans.
