MultiVersushas officially launched, except it doesn’t let players use all characters in offline play, and players are not happy.MultiVersushas managed to capture players' imaginations by tapping intoWarner Bros.' wide roster of IPsacross all its companies and brands.

MultiVersusofficially launched on all current platforms on July 30, 2025, after a beta period from July 2022 to June 2023. It had received major praise during that period, motivating publisher Warner Bros. to push for a launch, even if it came after nearly a year.

New MultiVersus Update Has Fans Wanting to Save the Game

Players have been quick to notice after the game’s release that local play and training mode have restrictions on the characters one can use. Back during theMultiVersusbeta, all characters were available in local play modes. This time, even local play restricts playable characters to those that were unlocked. In addition to this feature,MultiVersusalso doesn’t have a scoreboard and post-game Battle Reports, meaning there’s no way to find out gameplay stats. Players are not happy, and they’ve taken to Reddit to voice their displeasure.

Other MultiVersus Beta Features Removed From the Launch Version

Although theplayable character possibilities forMultiVersusare endlessright now, it seems that there’s a growing discontent among its current players. There have been a number of complaints on r/MultiVersusTheGame after one day due to these omissions from its beloved beta phase. It’s unclear as to why these extensive changes were made to the game, but if Warner Bros. Games wants to ride on its momentum from the beta, it may need to listen to the fanbase.

For now, however, it seems like the publisher will bank on the strength of the possible additions to the game.MultiVersusruns the full gamut of Warner Bros. IPs, from Cartoon Network to DC to HBO, and so much more. For example, itsnewest stage is the city of Townsville fromThe Powerpuff Girls, which debuted onMultiVersus’s official release.

Despite the removed features, onegood thing aboutMultiVersusis the netcode it uses. TheMultiversusteam had reworked and revamped its netcode, allowing for a better online gameplay experience as gamers with higher pings could still play smoothly. This also makes for improved matchmaking, especially in farther areas in the world or places where broadband internet isn’t as fast. While it seems thatMultiVersushas quite the hole it needs to dig itself out of, positive changes like this suggest that the team can still make requested and needed improvements.
