Not all that glitters is gold, and as much as the individuals in theMy Hero Academiaworld have beenblessed with quirksthat put them at an advantage, some of these quirks do not efficiently serve their users. In fact, they would probably be better off without them. However, getting rid of a quirk is not really an option, except if such an individual comes into contact with All For One, who is interested in their quirk, or if they manage to stumble on thedeadly but potent quirk-destroying drug.
Over 80% of individuals in theMy Hero Academiaworld possess superhuman abilities known as quirks. They use their quirk to either do good or do evil, butsome of these quirks put an intense amount of strain on their users, draining their life force and making it harder for them to recuperate or handle their quirk, meaning that they have to be wary when using it.

7Fierce Wings
Hawks Can Not Lose Too Many Feathers Or Else He Wil Be Stranded
Hawksis known for his red wings, and the feathers that make up his wings can be used to perform tasks and attach back to him when they are done. However, losing these feathers is very dangerous to Hawksduring a battle, as they take time to regrow, sometimes as much as 48 hours.
Losing these wings makes it difficult for Hawks to fight, and he has to be constantly aware of when to leave a battle so that he will not be rendered immobile and prone to attack from his opponents.During the Paranormal Liberation Arc, fans see him in a vulnerable state after his wings are burned off by Dabi. If not for Tokoyami, who came to save him at a dire moment, Dabi likely would have killed him.

6Pop Off
Mineta’s Quirk Is Only Good If He Is In Good Condition
Pop OffallowsMinetato pull the sticky balls off his head, and they grow back instantly. This quirk might not seem like much compared to the other quirks inMy Hero Academia, but it is what gets Mineta into the prestigious UA High. However, this quirk is more draining for Mineta than it is useful.
The sticky balls on Mineta’s head cannot be pulled off excessively because they can cause his scalp to bleed and make him weak. Another thing to note is that the stickiness of the balls depends on his health, but as soon as he starts picking them off his head, his health starts decreasing, and it is only a matter of time before his scalp starts bleeding. His quirk drains his health and is not suitable for fast-paced fights, which is what characters mostly face inMy Hero Academia.

5Erasure
Shoto Aizawa Suffers Dry Eye Syndrome Because Of His Quirk
Erasure, just like the name implies, erases the quirk of anyone the user looks at. However, the effect is temporary and lasts as long as the individual is in the user’s (Aizawa) sight. When Erasure is active, Aizawa cannot blink, because if he does, his opponent could escape. The quirk is quite convenient, as it works at long range, meaning that Aizawa does not have to be close to his enemy, he just needs to see them.
Unfortunately, blinking is essential for the human eye, and Aizawa goes on non-blinking stretches tokeep his opponent quirkless. This has caused Aizawa to develop dry eyes, meaning his eyes are prone to irritation, and he constantly has to lubricate them with eye drops. This dry eye syndrome also limits the time he can look at an opponent, because his eye lacks moisture and he needs to replenish it. It is also why he always carries eye drops with him. Needless to say, none of this makes his quirk worthwhile when compared to the pain he goes through dealing with it.

4Half-Cold Half-Hot
Shoto Todoroki’s Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk Can Cause Him To Freeze Or Burn Himself
Todoroki’s quirk is one of themost versatilequirks inMy Hero Academia. However, the scales cannot be tipped to favor one side of the quirk or the other, and it must constantly be balanced, or else it can cause serious damage to Todoroki. This can be seen during theUA Sports Festival, where Todoroki avoids using this hot side to spite his father, but it is doing him more harm than good as his body cannot maintain a warm temperature because the imbalance cause to his cold side.
Todorki needs to use the heat as much as he uses the cold to balance out his body temperature to avoid frostbite or burning himself. He constantly has to be on guard to avoid causing harm and discomfort.

3Blue Flame
Dabi Has Permanent Burns On His Body Because Of His Flames
Dabi, the eldest son of pro-hero Endeavour, has been terrorizing the world ofMy Hero Academiawith the League of Villains. As a young child, Dabi did everything he could to get his father’s attention, and that included working too hard to control his quirk and make it stronger, but his father was uninterested. Dabi got his father’s flame quirk, but his own is blue, which makes it hotter than Endeavour’s own flame.
However, that means that Dabi’s body has to work twice as hard to withstand the heat, but it can, and as a result, Dabi has scars and permanent damage caused by his quirk. Dabi likes overusing his quirk, to show that he is indeed stronger than both his father and his perfect child, Todoroki. This does not help Dabi in any way, as his body is already weak and worn out, and he is only causing more damage to it which he already knows.Dabi’s flames are getting stronger, and he knows that, at the rate they are increasing, his body will not be able to keep up.

2Rewind
Eri’s Quirk Is Too Much For Her To Mentally Handle
When fans first metEri, she was just six years old and had already undergone numerous experiments due to her Rewind quirk. Her quirk reverses or rewinds a person’s body to a previous state. It is an incredibly powerful quirk if used right, like how Midoriya used it to reverse the deadly effect of using One For All at its 100% capacity, but if used wrong, it could erase a person from existence, like how Eri erased her father.
This young girl had to live with her actions and constantly beat herself up for them, especially since her mother abandonned her for what she did to her father, even though she had no understanding of her quirk and couldn’t control it. Eri lived alone and in fear, especially as she was the subject of Kai Chisaki’s evil intentions. Luckily,Midoriya and the heroes save her from Kai, freeing her from the mental bondage and traumatic past that her quirk had subjected her to.

1One For All
Izuku Midoriya’s Quirk Has The Tendency To Break All The Bones In His Body
BeforeMidoriyagot the One For All quirk from All Might, his visits to the hospital were just for checkups and find out why he did not have a quirk, butafter gettingOne For All, all that changed. Midoriya’s visits to the hospital got more intense, and he was almost always in a coma with bandages all over his body.
The One For All quirk is too powerful for Midoriya’s body, and because of that, it strains his muscles and bones, causing them to snap and break. Midoriya has been advised countless times by the doctors to take it easy, as there is only so much damage his body can take, but being young and passionate,Midoriya never listens, and he keeps overusing his quirk, pushing his body to its limits.

My Hero Academia
In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
