A new promo video and key visual for the anime adaptation of Kotoyama’sCall of the Nightmanga was revealed on Wednesday. The video and visual were both released via the anime’s official website.

Theanime is set to premieresometime in July and will air on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block. So far, only two cast members have been revealed, with Gen Sato (Dr. Stone’sChrome,Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki’sFumiya Tomozaki) and Sora Amamiya (Akame ga Kill!’sAkame, Tokyo Ghoul’sTouka) starring as Kо̄ Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa, respectively.

Kotoyama’sCall of the Nightmanga is serializedin Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday under the Shōnen Sunday Comics imprint. The supernatural/rom-com began its run in 2018 and has amassed 9 tankōbon volumes so far. The series was nominated for the 6th Next Manga Awards in 2020 and finished 7th out of 50 nominees with 15,134 votes counted towards it.

The anime adaptation will be animated by Liden Films, with Tomoyuki Itamura (Monogatari Series Second Season, The Case Study of Vanitas) directing and Tetsuya Miyanishi (Josee, the Tiger and the Fish, Strike the Blood) serving as chief director. Haruka Sagawa (Child of Kamiari Month, Sorcery in the Big City) will handle the character designs, while Michiko Yokote (Teasing Master Takagi-san, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) is handling the series composition.

Kotoyama’sDagashi Kashimanga series was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 2014-2018. The series amassed 11 tankōbon volumes throughout its run and inspired a one-shot light novel spin-off;Dagashi Kashi: Mō Hitotsu no Natsuyasumi.

Studio Feel adapted the manga into a 12-episode anime that airedduring the Winter 2016 season. The series was directed by Shigehito Takayanagi (The World God Only Knows, Galaxy Angel) with Yasuko Kamo (Hajime no Ippo, Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond) handling the series composition.

Tezuka Productions animated a 12-episode second seasonwhich aired during the Winter 2018 season. Satoshi Kuwabara (Adachi and Shimamura, Girlfriend, Girlfriend) directed the series, with Mayumi Morita (Girlfriend, Girlfriend, The Quintessential Quintuplets) handling the series composition.

VIZ Media publishes Call of the Night in English. Funimation licenses both seasons of theDagashi Kashianime in North America.
