Genshin ImpactVersion 2.6 is just around the corner, but there’s already news about what to expect in the next update. Most notably, HoYoverse plans to release two new characters — Kuki Shinobu and Yelan.

So far, HoYoverse has only released the characters’ names, Visions, and other miscellaneous details. However, little is officially known about their combat style and ideal placement within a team. That said, theGenshin Impactdataminers and leakers have been hard at work, providing the community with more details about the upcoming characters of Version 2.7.

Genshin Impact character Kuki Shinobu

Genshin Impact: Kuki Shinobu Leaks and Information

Kuki Shinobu was first introduced on March 28,onGenshin Impact’s Twitter page. Her title is the “Mender of Tribulations,” and she acts as the deputy leader of the Arataki Gang. In her official introduction, she’s described as an astute businesswoman, skilled at negotiations and consultations. However, those who seek her counsel should never try to remove her mask or ask about why she refuses to go near the Grand Narukami Shrine. A quote from Kujou Sara also reveals that Kuki is knowledgeable in both literature and martial arts.

Aside from this, aGenshin Impactleaker said that Kukimight be a 4-Star Electro healer on Twitter. If this is the case, she’ll most likely act as a sword-wielding support character. It also makes her the first Electro healer to appear in the game. Unfortunately, despite her professional relationship with Arataki Itto, she likely won’t be the best option for a team centering around his attack power. This is because Itto is most effective in a team with other Geo characters.

Genshin Impact character Yelan

Genshin Impact: Yelan Leaks and Information

Like Kuki, Yelan was also introduced on March 28. OnGenshin Impact’s official Twitterpost, her title is “Valley Orchid,” and it describes her as a mysterious woman who says she works for the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Yelan’s official introduction says that her true identity is a mystery, and so are her feelings and motivations. She’s careful to keep her identity a secret and always changes her name when she forms bonds with other people. As such, no one knows who she is or what she wants.

Yelan’sGenshin Impactleaksreveal much more than Kuki’s, which is no surprise as the community believes she’ll be the game’s next 5-Star character. Leaked model images reveal that Yelan will be a Hydro bow-user, making her the second character to have this combination after Tartaglia. It also seems Yelan won’t be a DPS character but will, instead, play the role of a support. According to the leaker, she’ll be able to apply Hydro effects even while she isn’t in play but has low personal damage. Her constellations also allow her to improve her Energy Recharge and extend its effects to the entire party.

That said, the leaker also noted that Yelan “feels a bit uncomfortable to play.” Whether this is from the ineffective Energy Recharge or general handling is unclear. Regardless, it doesn’t bode well for the upcoming 5-Star character. Though such issues wouldn’t make her a bad character, it may decrease her popularity, similar toKokomi when she was first released inGenshin Impact.

Both of theupcoming characters forGenshin ImpactVersion 2.7will likely be support characters. Since Itto’s release in update 2.3,Genshin Impacthasn’t released a top-tier DPS character, so players waiting for a new main damage dealer to play with may have to wait a while. However, it’s important to note that much of what the community knows about both Kuki and Yelan comes from leaks. As such, their kits and weapon types might be different upon release. Until then, players can only speculate.

Genshin Impactis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
