The upcomingMonster Huntermovie starring Milla Jovovich has revealed some new images showcasing the main character’s Dual Blade weapons. In a recent interview with Empire, Jovovich and directorPaul W.S. Andersonshared some new details on the movie which has, until now, been mostly shrouded in mystery.
TheMonster Huntermoviewas announced back in October of 2018, but has reportedly been planned since as early as 2012. In typical video game movie adaptation fashion, the main character, Artemis (played by Jovovich) is from the real world, and is somehow transported to the world ofMonster Hunterwhere she must struggle to survive.

While this premise has some fansworried that the film will end up being cheesyor poorly written, the imagery shown so far from the movie has been pretty good. The trailer showcases a couple of the titular monsters, including a stunning shot of a Diablos, and now a new image shows Artemis' weapon of choice, the Dual Blades.
Artemis' Dual Blades seem to have the Thunder element judging by the arcs of electricity flowing between them, and sport the familiar curved shape of Dual Blades from theMonster Hunterseries. They are also massive, which fits right in line with the game and other imagery shown from the movie including theGiant Jawblade wielded by Tony Jaa. She’s also shown wearing some kind of armor, but what little is shown in the shot doesn’t immediately jump out as anything iconic from theMonster Hunterfranchise. This makes sense, as if she’s gonna wear Rathalos armor, fans would prefer she earn it the old fashioned way.
Regarding the Dual Blades themselves, a precursory look at all of the Thunder Element Dual Blades inMonster Hunter Worlddoesn’t reveal any noticeable inspirations. As a Longsword main, however, there are likely more qualified sources for that information. With the movie slated to release this September, it is likely that more monsters, weapons, and armor will begin to appear in trailers and promotional videos. This interview alone has made it clear that the creators are ready to loosen their lips on theMonster Huntermovie.
Hopefully, regardless of how the story itself turns out, the imagery ofMonster Huntermonsters on the big screenbeing hunted by a team of live-action hunters will be awesome. At this point, that’s the best fans can hope for, but it’s always possible that the movie surprises fans even more.
