The latest entry in theOddworldvideo game series,Oddworld: Soulstorm, was released earlier this year back in April. It is a sequel toOddworld: New ‘n’ Tastyand was developed and published by Oddworld Inhabitants asa re-imagining of the previousOddworldgamein the series calledOddworld: Abe’s Exoddus.

Oddworld: Soulstormis a side-scrolling platform game where players take on the role of the alien main character Abe in his goal to rescue his Mudokon brethren from the oppressive Glukkons. The game continued the story fromNew ‘n’ Tastywhile building upon the gameplay mechanics from bothOddworld: Abe’s ExoddusandOddworld: Munch’s Oddysee. Recently, Oddworld Inhabitants made an announcement earlier saying thatOddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Editionwas released today.

This announcement comes from Oddworld Inhabitant’s official Twitter account where the developer made a post announcing theEnhanced Edition’srelease and the game’s port for the Xbox One andthe Xbox Series X/S. The game is available for players to purchase now, and the post comes with links to the Microsoft Store where they can buy theEnhanced Edition.

According to the post,Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Editioncomes with highly improved gameplay mechanics, seven additional months of polish, improved Slig and follower AI, and more added to the game. The post even comes with a new launch trailer announcing the release ofOddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Editionwhich shows off some gameplay from it as well. Previous owners ofthe originalOddworld: Soulstormwill receive theEnhanced Editionas a free upgrade to the game.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Editionwill also include brand new content for players to enjoy in the game. Vykkers Labs will be available to the Xbox versions of the game, and Toby’s Escape will be available on PlayStation andthe Epic Games Storefor players to purchase. Toby’s Escape will focus on the character Toby who appeared inOddworld: Soulstorm. Players will get to experience Toby’s journey and see how he escaped from RuptureFarms and became the train conductor they meet in the game. Both additions are described as throwbacks to the classicOddworldshort puzzle levels, with small bits of gameplay for both Vykkers Labs and Toby’s Escape shown in theEnhanced Edition’slaunch trailer.

During the game’s initial release,Oddworld: Soulstormhad received mixed reviews from critics for a variety of gameplay issues. Now that theEnhanced Editionis out, most of the previous issues are supposed to be ironed out in this version of the game. Players should be able to experience the best that the game has to offer inOddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition.
