Summary
One of the most welcome changes inPokemon Scarlet and Violetwas that Gen 9 had arguably the best story in mainlinePokemongames, or at least it is often considered among the very best. This is thanks to storylines such as Professor Sada and Turo’s or Arven’s inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, with them being not only emotional but also featuring interesting twists that ended up breaking longstanding traditions, such as Sada and Turo not giving players their starter Pokemon. Still, this can be a double-edged sword for the upcoming The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk DLCs because there’s a high bar they have to clear, but one character from the latter could help if they are hiding something big.
Not much is currently known about the characters that will appear in both of Gen 9’s DLC expansions, but the cast seems to be quite rich and varied, especially inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk. Here, players will meet plenty of new trainers, including the so-called BB League and new teachers of the Blueberry Academy, with them being most likely also battle options further down the line. The BB League is seemingly the most interesting addition to the DLC, and one of its four top trainers could be holding a secret.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Amarys Could be The Missing Link With Gen 5
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk could be hinting at Gen 5 gamesgetting their time back in the limelight in the near future, and that’s for multiple reasons. Among them is the fact that Archaludon is used by one member of the BB League called Drayton, whose name and appearance are eerily similar to Drayden fromPokemon Black. This is also in line with the leaks that surfaced surrounding Gen 9 DLCs, which stated that there would be a new Pokemon to represent Gen 5’s Black City, but its counterpart is still missing.
In fact, it’s said that there will also be a critter to convey the themes of the White Forest fromPokemon White, and while the Pokemon itself may be still wrapped in mystery, its trainer seems very clear. As much as Drayton seems to have ties with Drayden from Gen 5 games, it’s likely thatPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Blueberry Academystudent and BB League Elite Four Amarys has a connection toPokemon White’s Iris. On a surface level, Amarys and Iris share a similar countenance not unlike Drayden and Drayton, which makes a relationship between them quite probable.
If this is the case, not only is Amarys going to be an extremely important character, but she will also have a signature undisclosed Pokemon that further highlights the relevance of all the Gen 5-related hints that came so far. She is also seen in the recent Pokemon Presents trailer, where she is explaining to the player character that Koraidon and Miraidon will gain the ability tofly in The Indigo Disk DLC, albeit allegedly only for a short period of time. With this being part of the trials held by the BB League, it could hint at the Pokemon type used by Amarys, which could be Flying.
Even if Amarys doesn’t end up being tied toPokemon Black and White’s Iris,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s second set of Elite Fouris breaking a massive tradition for the series, and Amarys is going to be part of it. Although Lacey and Crispin, the other top trainers of the BB League outside of Drayton and Amarays, both seem to be interesting characters in their own right, it could be the other two to carry the DLC’s story if they are indeed who they seem to be.
