A bug pesteringOverwatch 2players since it found its way into the game with Season 2 has been fixed at last, with Hanzo players no longer having to experience the jarring recoil that would result from Hanzo firing his primary weapon. Although this specific bug fix doesn’t seem to be mentioned in the patch notes forOverwatch 2’s latest update, the patch has also brought a variety of slight tweaks to some of the game’s other heroes.

ManyOverwatch 2players have been vocal about their discontent with this particular glitch, which was inflicting a great amount of frustration in Hanzo mains due to the bug causing the character’s bow to noticeably flick upwards every time it fired an arrow. Although the strange visual bug only crept into the game when Season 2 released at the start of December, the new season did bring a ton of bug fixes to the game along with a plethora of new content, including the new Shambali Monastery map, a new Mythic skin for Junker Queen, a whole new battle pass, and much more. Perhaps most notably wasthe debut ofOverwatch 2’s latest additionto its hero cast, Ramattra. The new Omnic tank hero’s ability to switch between two distinct forms makes him the game’s first “tempo tank,” with Ramattra’s Omnic and Nemesis forms allowing him to seamlessly switch his abilities and weapons in the blink of an eye.

AnOverwatch 2player named RoyalCheese4 on Reddit brought attention to the fixed issue via a post that they made on the site. The embedded video demonstrates the difference between Hanzo’s firing animations before and after the recent patch, with footage taken from the latest version ofOverwatch 2thankfully showing that Hanzo’s firing animationis once again free from recoil and back to what players are used to. Strangely enough, the fix doesn’t appear to be mentioned anywhere in the patch notes for the latest update, leaving some fans curious as to why the developers scarcely ever acknowledged the issue.

Although the issue was the subject of much confusion from fans when it appearedwithOverwatch 2’s Season 2, the patch notes that came with the seasonal update made no mention of any such change to Hanzo, mostly clearing up suspicions that this problem was ever meant to be an intentional feature for the character.

Still, some fans are annoyed that such a glaring problem took so long to be addressed. ThoughOverwatch 2continues to thrive in popularityboth on social media and in terms of player count, some fans feel that they’re losing interest due to problems with competitive matchmaking and character balancing in the hero shooter. The latest patch appears to be a step in the right direction in the eyes of some, with Blizzard continuing to monitor player feedback and make adjustments to the game accordingly.

Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
