AnOverwatch 2player has discovered that the price of Mercy’s Vampire Skin has increased after the new shop rotation. The pricing inOverwatch 2has long been debated since the game’s initial launch last year with many players complaining about the high prices of certain items, and some questioning whetherOverwatch 2’s shop monetization could be illegal in multiple countries. They are now voicing their frustration at Blizzard for the mysterious price hike seen in the shop.
This is not the first timeOverwatch 2players have had issues with the shop, as it turned out thatBlizzard sold Briggette’s Vampire Hunter skin for more than the price of its bundle. The monetization practices adopted inOverwatch 2encourage players to purchase a battle pass or shell out real money to unlock items. Although Blizzard made it possible to receive certain cosmetics by completing weekly challenges, many players have been complaining that it takes too long to collect enough coins to spend in the shop.

AnOverwatch 2player who goes by Mew-Dado on Reddit has discovered that Mercy’s Vampire skin has increased in price after the new shop rotation. The original poster claimed that this skin used to cost around 1000 coins before, though now, the price has changed to 1500 coins for no apparent reason. Some players said this is due to some legal issues with the individual items Blizzard has encountered after the release of the game.
In the comments, a Reddit user who goes by Ghostlogics assumed that the reason for the price hike is Blizzard needs to have the individual items cost more to legally call it a “sale” in the shop. There are people saying that jacking up the price of items for a short period to call it a “sale” is fraud and unethical. Some players also made jokes about the game’s shop monetization, calling it ‘‘Scammerwatch’’.
ManyOverwatch 2players were left disappointed by the game’s monetization system, which makes it nearly impossible to unlock items without spending real money. In this context, anOverwatch 2player calculated how much time it takes to unlock Kiriko’s cosmeticsby completing challenges, and the result was worse than everyone anticipated. Many technical issues have been fixed since last year, but complaints about the game’s monetization model have never subsided.
Cosmetic bundles inOverwatch 2also drew criticism from players, with some claiming that the pricing in Blizzard’s hero shooter can be misleading. Some people also think the quality of cosmetic items is disappointing. It remains to be seen whetherOverwatch 2’s monetization modelwill be the cause of new controversies in the future.
Overwatch 2is now available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
