Summary
AnOverwatch 2player suggested that Illari’s upcoming buff could adjust the Solar Rifle to give the heroine balanced healing while keeping her damage. As with competitive games,Overwatch 2’s meta constantly changes based on Blizzard’s balance adjustments and the release of new heroes.
Last year,Overwatch 2brought support players into the spotlight by releasing two heroes for the role. April saw the addition of Lifeweaver, a healing and mobility hero whose kit can create impressive plays. August saw Blizzard’s bring in Illari, aheroine with a tragic origin storyand powers coming from the sun. Illari’s debut caused quite a stir, but then her popularity waned. To change things, Illari will soon get a buff, and anOverwatch 2player has proposed an interesting idea for this adjustment.

Reddit user Slamfire_ow suggested that Illari’s buff increases the range of the Solar Rifle’s alternative fire from 15 to 23 meters, reduces the healing per second from 105 to 90, and increases the maximum duration from three to four seconds. According to the OP, with these tweaks, Illari would have balanced healing with a bigger range without losing her damage impact. Additionally, the change would allow Illari to switch between damage and healing at will,as Ana does with her abilities, while keeping a safe position. If this buff isn’t enough, they suggest raising the fire rate so that Illari is more consistent when poking and dueling opponents, and even giving back her crit multiplier.
Overwatch 2players had a strong reaction to Illari’s announcement due to her damage and healing abilities. Her debut in the hero shooter was equally impactful, and days laterBlizzard announced nerfs for Illari. But over time, the Inti warrior has found herself falling behind in theOverwatch 2meta to such an extent that her pick rate became lower than Brigitte’s, known for being an underdog hero. Another support that’s ironically not very popular withOverwatch 2players is Lifeweaver, whose pick rate is just slightly higher than Brigitte’s.
It won’t be long beforeOverwatch 2players find out what Illari’s buff will be, as next week sees the release of the midseason patch for Season 8. As well as buffing Illari to try and restore the hero’s shine, the upcoming update will bringheavy nerfs to Mauga. The Samoan tank has been causing headaches since hisOverwatch 2debut due to his broken kit, but now devs plan to make Mauga less oppressive.
