Though Junker Queen was a new Tank hero that launched withOverwatch 2, fans of the hero shooter will be getting another Tank to play with very soon. Given how fun and important the role has become, this makes perfect sense, and many will surely be happy to take control of Ramattra. The hype only grew after his origin story was shown at theOverwatch League Grand Finals, as many find his origin powerful and his motivation understandable.
TheOverwatch 2hero Ramattra is the leader of Null Sector, a group of violent Omnics fighting for a better world for their people. Intriguingly, Ramattra was initially peaceful, living as a Shambali monk like the beloved Support hero Zenyatta. As time went on, they became like brothers, though they also took on different philosophies. As humans began killing Omnics, Ramattra sought to fight back, earning freedom for his people through hostility. For Marvel fans, the pair’s relationship should feel remarkably similar to the one between Magneto and Charles Xavier.

Similarities Between The X-Men and Overwatch 2’s Zenyatta and Ramattra
Magneto is a beloved character for many of the same reasons that fans are quickly growing attached toRamattra’s story. While he ultimately has good intentions for his people, and everything he has been through help justify his violence, he is ultimately still a villain that goes about things the wrong way. And, just like Magneto, Ramattra is close with a more kind-hearted and benevolent member of his people.
While a monk like Zenyatta is a bit different from a professor like Charles Xavier, both have helped people, withZenyatta pushing Genji to find himselfand become better than he was during his Blackwatch days. Zenyatta being a key figure at the Shambali temple in Nepal is also similar to Xavier’s position within the School for Gifted Youngsters, and like Xavier he does not want humans to be harmed despite their horrendous treatment of Omnics.
TheOmnicand Mutant races are both similar, too, as the factions serve as allegories for real-world racism. As such, both have to overcome mindless hatred simply because they are different, with Ramattra remarking that “humanity does not want to share their world” in his origin story - a line of dialogue that can easily be imagined coming out of Magneto’s mouth. With similar rhetoric and storytelling concepts present for these two characters and their respective races, the comparison is an easy one to make.
Assuming that Blizzard continues to follow similar themes, and Zenyatta does not make an unexpected villain turn to join his close friend in Null Sector, the two characters could find themselves fighting on opposite sides inOverwatch 2’s PvE campaign. Much like how Xavier and Magneto constantly go toe-to-toe despite being friends and having a close bond in the past, Zenyatta may no longer be able to remain a neutral party and could be forced to fight his old comrade. Genji could be a big factor in swaying him to join Overwatch, after all, putting his healing and discord orbs to good use in the ongoing fight for peace. He could also have knowledge about Ramattra’s weaknesses that could prove useful.
While Ramattra’s story is nothing that has not been seen in other mediums, as shown by Magneto’s own history, that doesn’t mean it is not fascinating. Much like with Mauga andBaptiste, it is interesting to see the relationship between two characters tested when they have hugely different beliefs. Since Ramattra is sure to inflict a lot of harm, it will be fun to hear what his fellow Omnics - especially Zenyatta - have to say.
