There are fewPokemonmore popular than Eevee, who starred in theGeneration 1 remakePokemon Let’s Go, Eevee, and has received special treatment through a number of series gimmicks, including a Z-Move in Alola and a Gigantamax form in Galar. The Normal-type Pokemon is well-known for its unstable genetic makeup facilitating up to eight different evolutions, with more being introduced over time.
Fans have been imagining what Eevee evolutions for other typings might look like sincePokemon RedandGreencame out in 1996, a practice that continues with more attention in the age of the Internet. APokemonplayernamed PTickles posted their take on a Fighting-type Eevee evolution to the r/pokemon subreddit yesterday, the first part of a new series that has gotten almost 50,000 upvotes as of this writing.

This Fighting-type evolution, called Champeon, would theoretically evolve if Eevee levels up while knowing the move Counter, as PTickles says giving the Pokemon access to this new attack would retroactively explain why it was previously inaccessible. New evolutions have been explained with added mechanics in the past, such as Espeon and Umbreon requiringPokemon GoldandSilver’s day/night cycle and Sylveon requiringPokemon XandY’s Pokemon Amie system — though theSylveon evolution method changed inSwordandShield.
PTickles' concept for Champeon has been positively received for its clever use of the evolution line’s -eon suffix and its bandaged-up, battle-worn design, with the artist speculating that the wrappings making up its tail would be the same material comprising Sylveon’s ribbon feelers. The Pokemon also has competitive potential thanks to its Scrappy ability, allowing it to hit Ghost-types with its Fighting attacks. Altogether, the idea fits well with a group beloved enough to get aseries of Eevee evolution Funko Pops.
Though Eevee is a popular subject for speculation due to its multi-evolution branching paths, fans of the series have taken to creating images based on other Pokemon as well. Another artist named FilippoDraws sharedfan art of a Ghost-type Kyogrerecently, taking on a beloved Legendary Pokemon from the Hoenn Region.
It seems likely that Game Freak will add new Eevee evolutions going forward, and whenever they do a Fighting-type it would be interesting to see them draw on the popular elements in PTickles' concept. In the meantime, the cute little monster will continue to soak up the limelight inPokemongames and spin-offs, like withEevee’s pancake dish inPokemon Cafe Mix.
