Pokemonfan HertzBurst recently created concept designs for Paradox forms of Gengar and Honedge. Paradox Gengar is named Iron Fright and appears to be a futuristic, high-tech version of the original Gengar. However, Iron Fright is a Ghost and Dark-type Pokemon unlike the original Ghost and Poison-type Gengar. Iron Blade, the fan-made concept design for Honedge, is afuturistic and machine-like Paradox Pokemonwith a different type compared to the original Pokemon. Iron Blade is a Ghost and Electric-type Pokemon instead of a Steel and Ghost-type since the Paradox version is based on an electrically-charged weapon from the future.

InPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Paradox Pokemon are unable to evolve or breed, and their exact origins are linked tothe mysterious Area Zero locationin the center of the Paldea region. Paradox Pokemon resemble original Pokemon designs, but the new designs are based on the distant past and future relatives of the Pokemon. Additionally, Paradox Pokemon do not follow the naming conventions of ordinary Pokemon and are designated with nicknames that refer to ther appearance and location of discovery. For example, the Paradox version of Donphan is known as “Great Tusk” due to its massive tusks.

These new Paradox forms of Gengar and Honedge are unique and aesthetically pleasing while retaining key traits from original designs created by The Pokemon Company. Paradox Gengar still appears to be a mischievous Pokemon, while Paradox Honedge maintains its signature appearance as a floating blade with a long tail.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’sHidden Treasure of Area Zero DLCwill introduce new Pokemon, but Gengar and Honedge receiving new Paradox forms remains to be seen. The first DLC pack called The Teal Mask will release in fall 2023, and The Indigo Disk DLC pack will release in the winter.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now for Nintendo Switch.
