AlthoughPokemonis a never-ending machine, regularly rolling out new generations of characters every few years or so, many of the earlier ones remain fan-favorites. OnePokemonfan has decided to show their appreciation for a rather unusual pick, Porygon, crafting the digital Pokemon entirely out of clay.
Introduced in the very first generation ofPokemon, Porygon is a Normal-type Pokemon made completely out of programming code. Featuring a distinctive pink and turquoise color scheme and polyhedral body, Porygon’s most recent appearance was inPokemon Legends: Arceus, where its evolved formPorygon-Z has a weird sleep animation.

Posted onto social media platform TikTok, a user with the handle of @hotbinky has shared a video documenting the clay Porygon sculpture creation process. In the roughly minute-long video, viewers can see the artwork from start to finish, first starting out as amorphous balls of gray clay. The artist first forms these balls into Porygon’s various polyhedral body parts, then showing the raw clay parts assembled. Paint goes on next, with Porygon receiving its signature pink and turquoise coloring and, a few moments later, a completed sculpture of the Pokemon.
The artistic creation is clearly popular amongPokemonfans, with the post getting plenty of likes and comments. The video has even been re-posted ontoPokemonsubreddits, garnering thousands of additional likes, with lots of compliments and requests for other clayPokemonsculptures filling up the comments section. Porygon has somehow maintained its popularity despite not appearing in the anime for over 20 years, famously causing widespread seizures in Japan from its only featured episode. A newer episode ofPokemon Journeyswas rumored to feature Porygon, but ended up focusing on Drizzile and a Kecleon instead.
While the Porygon is well-made, it isn’t the only clayPokemonsculpture to have made headlines recently. Another fan has made aclay sculpture ofPokemon ScarletandVioletnewcomer Lechonk. The Lechonk sculpture uses colored clay from the start, as opposed to painting the surfaces, resulting in a richly-colored end result. The two sculptures are prime examples ofPokemon’s creative and varying character design, with Porygon made entirely of straight edges, and Lechonk having virtually none.
The clay sculptor andPokemonfan created Porygon as the result of a request, meaning fans can try asking them to make their favorite. Even though it is a fairly obscure Pokemon,Porygon still gets love from longtimePokemonfans, with the uniquely-designed character holding a special place in manyPokemonfans' hearts.
