Shortly appearing after the Johto update, shiny Pokemon have been appearing inPokemon GO. These rare Pokemon have different appearances from their non-shiny counterparts making them have a much higher demand than them as well.
In the mainlinePokemontitles,every single Pokemon has a shiny variant, even if some of them cannot be obtained normally. InPokemon GO, the same cannot be said, as the shiny variants of certain Pokemon seem to only be released in waves with new updates and put into the game proper.

What Are Shiny Pokemon?
Shiny Pokemon are simply color variants of existing Pokemon. They hold no kind of power or ability advantage and they are collected only for their aesthetics. Some Pokemon have very prominent color variants such as the red shiny form of Duskull that can be seen in the above imagefrom the Pokemon TCG. Others have a more subtle change like the change in tail paint color in Smeargle.
Due to their rarity, finding and catching a shiny Pokemon is always a treat for lucky trainers. They can be often found duringPokemon GOcommunity days due to the high volumes of one kind of Pokemon appearing in an area.

WithPokemon Gohosting theThrowback Challenge 2020 event, it’s very possible that more Pokemon will be receiving their shiny forms very soon. As seen above, the majority of Kanto Pokemon already have all of their shiny forms with exeggcute and exeggutor only getting theirs in April. It’s currently unknown which Pokemon will be getting their shiny forms next or from what region they’ll be from, but their addition will be a welcome to shiny hunters inPokemon GOall around the globe.
It should be noted that shiny Pokemon do not appear shiny when spawning on the overworld before being caught, so players wanting to search for them should enter any encounter they find.
