Summary
One dedicatedTerrariaplayer has used their creative skills to transform their in-game world into a replica of Mt. Moon and its surrounding areas from the originalPokemongames. WhileTerrariatakes place in a side-scrolling 2D landscape andPokemonallows for 3D movement with a top-down view, this player utilized their years of experience with the game to make the transition work.
Mt. Moon is located in theKanto region fromPokemon Red and Blue, although otherPokemongames have allowed the player to go there as well. It’s found between Routes 3 and 4, and players will have to spelunk through a cave system in the mountain on their journey between Pewter City and Cerulean City.

The creator of this new fan-made Mt. Moon, who goes by the Reddit handle EaldorPrime, introduced it as part six in their series of Kanto replicas made inTerraria. In order to craft the replica of Mt. Moon usingTerraria’s building tools, EaldorPrime had to get creative to allow 3D movement in the 2D game. Since characters inTerrariacan jump but not walk upward or downward on the screen, the player has filled the area with Echo Platforms, which can be leaped to but cannot be seen under normal circumstances. The creator says they have been playingTerrariafor almost 13 years and have logged about 3,000 hours of playtime so far, and impressively, they created this world with noTerrariamods, although they did utilize “a lot for paint.”
Almost An Exact Replica of Mt. Moon in Terraria
The version of Mt. Moon presented by this creator is almost an exact scale replica of the one appearing inPokemon Red and Blue, right down to the tunnels that lead the player to other parts of the cave system. Probably the biggest difference between the remade Mt. Moon and the original is that the version inTerrariaisn’t filled withwild Pokemon like Zubatand Clefairy that jump out and start random battles with the player. There is a stand-in for one Pokemon, however, as the creator has opted to use a Lightning Carrot to summon a yellow Volt Bunny to follow the player character around, much like Pikachu would trail behind the main character inPokemon Yellow. This particular attention to detail seems to have drawn the most delight out of fans who have seen the Mt. Moon build, along with the clothing choices that make the player character look like Ash Ketchum from thePokemonanime.
While this fan’s recreation of Mt. Moon is certainly impressive, it’s not the first time a player has added a Kanto location to a non-Pokemongame. Earlier in 2024, another creator shared a stunning replica of theKanto region made inMinecraft, which goes to show the appreciation players still have forPokemon’s original region.
