The holidays are fast approaching. As Thanksgiving draws near, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is announcing its lineup of colorful balloons and floats. Among the latest reveals for the event,Pokemonhas said it’s joining in on the celebrations once again this year. In honor of the series' 25th anniversary, there’s going to be a new balloon featuringPikachu and Eevee.
Video game characters have been in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade since Sonic the Hedgehog joined the event in 1993. While the first Sonic balloon was, unfortunately, part of an accident and removed for a while, Pikachu has been a mainstay for the past several years. ThePokemonfranchise has even used the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to promote its 25th-anniversary celebrations last year with dancing Pikachus.

The balloon has Pikachu and Eevee smiling brightly as they dash along the parade route in a Poke Ball sleigh. A green scarf is seen around Pikachu’s neck, and a red winter cap adorns Eevee’s head. While there have been no pictures of the balloon flying high yet,the officialPokemonTwitterhas shared the concept art for the balloon, and it’s just as cute as fans would expect.
Many fans are delighted to see the balloon join the lineup, with some finding it hilarious thatPokemonjoins the paradeyet again with the likes of the “Baby Yoda” Grogu from The Mandalorian as well as Goku from Dragon Ball Z. Some fans are calling it theSmash Brosof parades as a result. Other fans are wondering what musical performance will accompany the balloon, considering the theme ofPokemon’s25th anniversary is music.
While aPokemonballoon being featured in the Macy’s parade isn’t entirely too new, the balloon is cute enough to melt many fans' hearts this Winter. It also meansgreat things for Eevee, who’s now officially one of the biggest Pokemon ever next to Pikachu. Some fans had been wondering if the Evolution Pokemon was being pushed as a “number 2” to Pikachu, and this certainly backs that claim up.
This balloon also marks the very first time another Pokemon besides Pikachu has been featured in the parade. While it’s understandable that Pikachu is the one used, having variety in what’s used is a nice sight. It makes one wonder what pocket monsters will be featured in the next parades, though hopefully this balloon will be shown off for the next few parades to come.
