Pokemon Scarlet and Violetfeatured an eclectic cast through their inclusion of Team Star, with each of its members brimming with personality. WithThe Teal Mask DLCtaking place in Kitakami, one Team Star character, in particular, could shine among the Japanese-inspired land.
The base games ofPokemon ScarletandVioletfeatured a number of Team Star bases to take over, each commanded by an unrelenting boss. Atticus, the leader of Team Star’s Navi Squad, was no exception. With his pink and green outfit reminiscent of the Grafaiai-painted trees that surrounded his base, Atticus proved to be both a capable and fashionable mid-level foe for the player to challenge. Though his character excelled among the locale of Paldea’s Tagtree Thicket, he could benefit from a reappearance in the games' upcoming Teal Mask DLC, shining further light on his development and reacquaintance with his Academy peers.

Atticus is The Ninja of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Team Star
Though Team Star made up a compelling cast of characters, their inclusion within the greater narrative ofScarletandVioletwas quite short. Given that its members followedSwordandShield’s trend of more down-to-earth,sympatheticPokemonvillain teamsas opposed to the heavy-hitting ones of past titles, they didn’t exactly have to contend with world domination or liberating Pokemon from humans. As such, Atticus, along with the rest of Team Star’s crew, felt consigned to his base raid segments and a few contextual flashbacks, limiting his screen time.
The final narrative cues of Team Star acclimating back into school life atNaranja or Uva Academy, however, were quite sweet and endearing, showing that the team could find company and friendship both among each other and in the larger community of the Academy as a whole. Because The Teal Mask DLC is said to take place on a school trip, Game Freak has the chance to shine a further spotlight on the team’s members, demonstrating how their previous perceptions of school life might have changed. With The Teal Mask’s emphasis on Kitakami, a spotlight on Atticus' character might be particularly applicable.
It would help to develop one of his defining character traits while strengthening his ties to other people. Moreover, Atticus' specialty inPoison-type Pokemoncould make him a perfect ally along the player’s adventures into Kitakami. With the DLC’s previous-gen roster including a Pokemon like Shiftry, it’s safe to assume that the region’s lush environment should be home to a number of other Grass-types that would be weak in a type-matchup against the Team Star member.
If the DLC utilizes double battling in its narrative, it could make Atticus a formidable ally, helping to shine a further spotlight on the character. Whether the character’s inclusion is minimal or substantial, here’s to hoping Atticus gets to play a part in The Teal Mask’s journey.
