Pokemon SwordandShieldreleased over a year and a half ago now, but the two titles certainly left quite the impression onPokemonfans. Though many fans were upset with Game Freak’s decision toremove the National Dex fromPokemonSwordandShield,plenty of players still found a lot to love with Generation 8 despite some fan-favorite Pokemon not making an appearance.
One of the stronger aspects ofPokemon SwordandShieldcame by way of the many new characters introduced to the series, such as Sonia, the Galar champion Leon, and many of the various gym leaders introduced inSwordandShield. Now, one fan and cosplayer has debuted an incredibly impressive cosplay ofSwordandShield’s Dark-type gym leader Piers, showcasing some incredibly impressive detail.

The cosplay comes by way of Reddit user Moonllita, who has cosplayed many Nintendo-related characters in the past such as Flick fromAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsand Morag fromXenoblade Chronicles 2. Moonllita posted a photo of the cosplay to thePokemonsubreddit, where it has now garnered over 4.3k upvotes. Those who’ve playedPokemon SwordandShieldwill remember Piers as the seventh gym leader in the Galar region, who later gives his position to his little sister Marnie. Piers is undoubtedly one of the more memorable character designs inPokemon SwordandShield, and Moonllita’s cosplay captures all of Piers' eccentric details perfectly.
Perhaps the most striking aspect of Piers' design is his massive black and white spiked hairdo. Moonllita’s cosplay incorporates an excellent wig that is essentially a one-to-one recreation of Piers' iconic look. Additionally, the cosplay expertly matches Piers' attire, complete with his spiked boots, white cut-off jacket, and his iconic mic stand. Notably, the cosplay recreatesPiers' pink and black gym leader uniformperfectly, even capturing the pattern on the shorts and the Dark-type symbol on the chest.
ThePokemoncommunity is well-known for creating some incredible art, with many members cosplaying their favorite characters from the series. Coincidentally, anotherfan showed off their Marnie cosplayrecently, which also garnered a lot of attention on Reddit.Pokemon SwordandShieldcertainly had an interesting bunch of rival trainers when compared to other games in the series, with Bede, Marnie, and Hop all having decent storylines that wrapped up nicely by the end of the game. However, Marnie seems to have become another fan-favorite character in thePokemonseries thanks to her fan club Team Yell, her unique design, and her relationship to Piers.
Though Piers may not have been the mostmemorable gym leader fromPokemon SwordandShieldin terms of story significance or difficulty, his overall design absolutely stands out above the rest of the gym leaders in Generation 8. Still, many fans are probably glad that he decided to hand over his position as gym leader to Marnie in the end. Regardless of Piers' memorability in the game, there’s no doubt that this cosplay of Piers is one to remember.
