The first Nintendo Direct of the year happened yesterday, and it revealed two new upcoming expansions forPokemon SwordandShield. The first of these two expansions,The Isle of Armor, will gift the starter Pokemon of Galar with new Gigantamax transformations.

WhileRillaboom and Cinderace’s have some interesting designs, Inteleon’s, once again, seems to be the one that’s grabbed the internet’s attention.

Like every other Gigantamax transformation inPokemon SwordandShield, Inteleon’s turns it into a giant of a Pokemon with an interesting twist. In Inteleon’s case, its Gigantamax – instead of ballooning up its body – stretches its tail out to over 130 feet in length. Inteleon then stands its massive tail straight up and swirls the leftovers into a platform to post up on, effectively turning the whole thing into a sniper’s tower. As for the cherry topping off the design: Game Freak gave the Pokemon a gun.

Now, to be clear, it’s not like Intelleon has an actual rifle in its hand that can fire off actual bullets. It’s more like a dramatized finger-gun. The water Pokemon clads its index finger in a sheath of water that resembles the barrel of a rifle. It then, presumably, uses an attack animation that looks like its sniping. Regardless, though, the internet has been having fun with the whole situation, posting up memes about iton Twitter.

Inteleon has always come off as a sniper. Its signature move literally sports the name “Snipe Shot,” and it carries a hidden ability called “Sniper.” Add that onto the fact that its moniker calls it the “Secret Agent Pokemon,” and it becomes clear that if any of the 800-plus monsters we’re ever going to pick up a firearm, it would be this one. Still, the idea of a Pokemon, of all things, pulling out and using a rifle, is just hilarious. So fans didn’t really expect to see Inteleon show up with something so similar to a gun (even though there’s admittedly a lot of evidence pointing toward it).

All things considered, Inteleon’s Gigantamax transformation does an excellent job of showing off the Pokemon’s attributes. Frankly, all of thestarter Pokemon’s Gigantamax formsdo them justice in some way or another. Trainers currently having fun with Inteleon’s Gigantamax design only have to wait until June to properly snipe their opponents with itSwordandShield(if they have an Inteleon, of course).

Pokemon SwordandShieldare available now for the Nintendo Switch.
