The newPrince of Persia: The Lost Crowntrailer currently sits with around 4,600 likes and over 17,000 dislikes on YouTube. The game, which is areimagining ofPrince of Persiain a 2.5D world, was presented in a trailer with vibrant colors, a protagonist that was not the actual Prince of Persia, and even a hip-hop song as the soundtrack. It’s an understatement to say that some fans were not pleased with these choices.

While the gameplay of the upcoming game looks fine, essentially all of the other aspects were criticized, and some of the top comments on the YouTube video’s page show just how negative the overall reaction has been. One user, for instance, affirms that every time a newPrince of Persiagame is announced, they consider “finding a new hobby.” Another one complained that gamers were getting a newPrince of Persiaafter so many years, only for it not to featurethe actual Prince of Persia. Many people are complaining about the choice of music used in the video, too, as they believe rap was a pretty weird soundtrack choice for this kind of game, which is based on ancient Persian myths.

Fans who are disappointed with the upcomingPrince of Persiamay need to wait for a while before they can finally get a full-blown 3D game, too. A few weeks ago, Ubisoft announced that the remake ofPrince of Persia: Sands of Timewon’t release in 2023. The title was originally announced back in 2020, and then later criticized for its underwhelming aesthetics, and it seems that Ubisoft may take a long time to finish it, as it’s still early in development.
