ThePlaystation 5is a robust system that boasts some powerful qualities like 4k gaming and even ray-tracing things that were thought to only be onPC. In the last generation, console makersSonyandMicrosoftreleased slim down and digital versions of their consoles much after the main consoles were released, however, this time around both companies have put slim and digital versions alongside the release to get more players into their consoles.

The great thing about the PS5is that, unlike theXbox Series Xand Swhich are not the same console with one being stronger than the other, the normal PS5 and the diskless PS5 arerather the samewith the expectation one takes disks and the other doesn’t. Getting either variation of the console has pros and not many cons and this list should help players justify their purchase of the digital-onlyPS5,which is still a super powerful console just like its counterpart.

5Price

The best part about getting the digital-only PS5 is that players won’t sacrifice anything from the disc-featured PS5 because the specs are basically identical and because there is no disk drive, players who buy the digital-only PS5 will notice how much they’re saving which can be over a hundred dollars. Because of that players can spend their savingson classic gamesfrom PlayStation’s back catalog acrossthe many generations.

Thanks to the price point being rather reasonable, playing next generations games without players breaking the bank is much easier to do on the PlayStation 5. Unlike the Xbox Series S which is cheaper than the Xbox Series X it’s still not as powerful, so players would be missing out, however, on the PlayStation 5’s side both consoles are the same and with the price point of one being the lower without losing any of the quality of its big brother will entice players to opt for a PlayStation 5 rather an Xbox.

4Somewhat Lighter

One of the majority complaints of the new console even for the Xbox Series X is that they’re heavy and take up a lot of space. However, the digital variants are much easier to handle due to their being no disk tray this allows players to neatly put the PS5 away within their set-up which can give everything a cleaner look. The removal of the disk tray allows the console to be more portable and players can easily move it around if they wish to, it just helps when the PS5 is lighter and smaller because it doesn’t need to take up space.

As mentioned before, having a smaller and lighter console without bringing down the specs and keeping it rather cheap is another great reason why players should get the digital-only PS5. Having the digital-only PS5 lighter and compact makes it easier for the player to maintain it rather than having the bigger version of the PS5.

3SSD Space

Both variations of the PS5 will use up a lot of space, however, it makes much more sense for players to think about increasing the SSD space of the digital-only PS5. While, upgrading spacecan be cumbersomeunless players know what they’re doing it does help, allowing players toplay some greatPS4games and gamesfrom other genreswhich are now more accessible. As games get bigger and the digital-only PS5 has the full games on the SSD, players should note that expanding the space will be done more often due to how massive these games are with the updates on top of that.

This rule, however, is more universal for players since all games across the consoles are rather large, so users of the digital-only PS5 will have to follow suit. Increasing the SSD space is generally a good idea because the more games on the SSD the slower the PS5 can become which forces players to delete games more often, so more space means more games and players won’t have to worry as much.

2Having Good Internet

Since the digital-only PS5 needs the internet more so than the full-sized console players should note that most of the time to download games and sometimes to play them the internet needs to connect at all times, although this does vary. However, this should not deter players from getting the digital-only PS5 since they need to be online at all times because of the PS Plus system.

As Sony leans towards its service which does require games to be streamed, it does make sense to have a good internet, because as older games thathopefully will make itto service players will want a consistent connection to fully enjoy those games. Even in modern games somethat should beon the service, players will want the moves they’re making within the game to match the actions they’re inputting which make gaming a lot easier since there’s no lag and that helps when the player has a good connection.

1No 4K Blu-ray

While this may seem like a massive issue for a small portion of players, not having a Blu-Ray is what helps drop the price. While the digital-only PS5 can’t support this feature, players still won’t be missing out on watching their favorite movies in high quality since players can buy movies directly from the PlayStation Store and pick up rather high-quality movies thanks to the digital-only PS5 being able to output that.

Players won’t miss this aspect as much because Sony offers other ways for players to see those movies or videos with high resolution, but just like having good internet to stream, players should understand that watching movies with maximum resolution will drive up the internet usage and may hinder the stream. Missing out on the Blu-Ray feature isn’t much of a miss since thankfully players have many options to substitute this, so players can spend less on the console and still have options for replacing the Blu-Ray aspect of the PS5.
