Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apartmay be full of new weapons and gadgets for its leading Lombaxes to make use of, though there are some returning items as well. As it turns out,Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apartwill be bringing back the RYNO super weapon.

Short for Rip You a New One, the gun has been a series staple since the veryfirstRatchet and Clankgame. The method of obtaining the gun has changed from game-to-game, and it has ranged from a million-bolt purchase to a reward for collecting some hidden items. Much like the method for obtaining the RYNO, the gun itself has changed in each of its functionality, boasting different firing styles and sometimes being upgradeable. One thing that has remained the same is the fact that the RYNO is always the most powerful gun gamers can get.

LongtimeRatchet and Clankfans should be happy to see that the game will be continuing the trend, with the RYNO 8 officially being revealed for the game. With seven variants appearing beforehand, the name is perfect, and gamers get some insight into its design. Apparently, this version was created by Dr. Nefarious, theruler of Nefarious Cityand the game’s main villain. Rivet can be seen holding the weapon, and it boasts a massive trident-like barrel. While the gun looks incredible, fans currently have no idea of how it will function.

GivenRatchet and Clank: Rift Apart’s DualSense use, it is possible that the RYNO 8 will have two firing modes. Shown with the Enforcer shotgun and Burst Pistol, pressing down slightly on the adaptive triggers will allow one firing mode to be used, while a full press will see a second mode accessed. The RYNO 8 could use this to great effect, making the overpowered super weapon even deadlier. The original RYNO fired rockets and rapid-fire bullets at the same time, and if the RYNO 8 does something similar, one mode could fire rockets while the other is like machine gun fire.

Like other games,Ratchet and Clank: Rift Aparthas a weapon vendorwhere guns can be upgraded. As such, it will be interesting to see if the RYNO 8 can be upgraded beyond its default state. Past versions of the RYNO have had upgradeable ammo, eliminating the gun’s only downside. Other versions of the RYNO have become the RYNOCERATOR once fully upgraded, dropping the missile and bullet combo to effectively launch nukes at the enemy. Turning the screen white due to the sheer power of the weapon, it will be interesting to see if this variant returns.

Regardless,Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apartfansnow have yet another reason to be hyped for the sequel. While the RYNO 8 will likely be hard to obtain, the journey to unlock the gun should prove worthwhile.
