As more and more people discover and become fond of video games, the more references to them tend to show up in real life. Serving as a sort of real-world Easter egg, it often takes gamers by surprise to recognize that something disconnected from gaming is referencing a game.
Such is the case in one bar that a fan ofRed Dead Redemptionrecently visited. In the drink menu for the bar, there’s a distinct reference toRed Dead Redemption 2that can’t be mistaken for anything else.

Redditor NightFalconHTT was visiting the Sidecar Barley & Wine Bar in Oklahoma when they discovered the reference. On what seems like an otherwise normal drink menu, number 12 is called Dutch’s Plan, subtitled as ‘Like sipping firewater on a beach in Tahiti.’ It’s something that any ordinary customer who hasn’t experienced the game wouldn’t think twice about, but anyone who has been part of theVan der Linde gangknows otherwise.
Dutch Van der Lindehas become something of a meme after the release ofRed Dead Redemption 2, especially with regard to his plans. Dutch brings up the idea of going to Tahiti after the gang have earned enough, and the man always seems to have a plan. However, fans were quick to point out that one distinct element from the meme seems to be missing in the drink.
While the included ingredients of Tequila, Aveze French aperitif, Sicilian amaro, and Caribbean liqueur sound like they’d do a pretty good job of creating a sense of a tropical paradise, there’s no mango included in the drink. Dutch talked about the gang becoming mango farmers, and it’s become a big part of the memes surrounding the character, so some were sad to see it left out. Others were quick to make jokes aboutRed Dead Redemption 2and its memesand gameplay, like having some faith, or how the drink might boost one’s Dead Eye gauge.
As gaming has become more of a hobby enjoyed by adults, more of these references have popped up at bars. For example, not long after the release ofCyberpunk 2077, aJohnny Silverhand cocktailwas spotted at a bar. Not every one of these references needs to involve alcohol, though, as an all-age-appropriate discovery was made at a Starbucks, where the baristas had drawnAnimal Crossing: New Horizon’s coffee-loving pigeon Brewster to promote their drinks.
Red Dead Redemption 2became a massive hit on release, and is still widely celebrated by fans to this day. It’s likely there are many more small references to the game and its memorable characters out there in the world, just waiting for gamers to discover and share them.
Red Dead Redemption 2is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
