DICE’sBattlefieldseries has been dormant for a couple of years now, but it is expected to make a massive comeback during the 2021 holiday season. Currently known asBattlefield 6, not much is known about the game in an official capacity, but a new rumor may reveal the game’s setting. If the rumors are to be believed,Battlefield 6will be set during World War 3.

This rumor stems from a Reddit post by user William_Fichtner, who does not provide any kind of evidence to back up their claims. Considering this, fans should take this information with a massive grain of salt, though this isn’t the first time rumors have cropped up aboutBattlefield 6having a modern-day setting. At any rate, the rumor claims thatBattlefield 6will feature the fictional World War 3, which will be a conflict between NATO forces and Russia.

Apparently,Battlefield 6will bring back theWar Stories featurefrom recent games in the series, as opposed to a story campaign with a singular narrative. One of these War Stories will supposedly be about the US army fighting off Russian forces in American suburbs, whereas the other will be about an MI6 agent infiltrating Eastern Europe.

Beyond the single player content, the leaker also touches on some ofBattlefield 6’s potential multiplayer modes as well. This includes standardBattlefieldmultiplayer modes like Breakthrough, Conquest, Domination,Grand Operations, and of course, Team Deathmatch.Battlefield 6multiplayer is said to support 64 vs 64 player battles, which is line with other recent rumors about the upcoming FPS.

As far as multiplayer maps go, the supposedBattlefield 6leaker says that they are aware of three at the moment. One of theBattlefield 6multiplayer mapsis said to be a suburban map, another is a European city of some kind, and the third one is set in a Russian forest. The information on the multiplayer maps is pretty vague, and is one of the most telling signs that this information has been fabricated, so again, fans should take all of this with a grain of salt until it comes from an official source.

As for when that may happen, there’s a good chance theBattlefield 6reveal will take place at the likelyEA Play 2021 event. IfBattlefield 6is primed to be EA’s big 2021 game, then it would make sense for it showcase by E3 season at least, and so it’s a safe bet that fans will get their first look at the game by next summer. Hopefully enough information is shared so fans can know if thisBattlefield 6"leak" is legitimate or not.

Battlefield 6is in development for unspecified platforms.
